The supplier behind the “secret weapon” framing is South Korea’s SK hynix, a memory maker. SK hynix and NVIDIA have announced long-term cooperation to expand advanced-memory supply and develop next-generation memory for AI infrastructure. That makes SK hynix a strategically important partner; it does not establish exclusive supply, guaranteed financial gains, or a technical advantage already proven in deployed systems.

Why SK hynix is part of NVIDIA’s AI strategy

AI accelerators need fast memory as well as computing power. SK hynix’s June 2026 announcement describes a multi-year technology partnership with NVIDIA to advance memory for AI infrastructure, including expanded advanced-memory supply and development aligned with NVIDIA’s infrastructure roadmap. The company also names personal AI and physical AI among the intended applications, and says NVIDIA software will be used in semiconductor design and manufacturing workflows. SK hynix’s June announcement describes planned cooperation, not proof of future revenue, exclusivity, or market leadership.

The July 2026 announcement adds that the companies aim to co-develop and optimize next-generation memory, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), for workloads such as large-language-model training, agentic AI, and physical AI. These are stated goals; the announcement does not demonstrate delivered performance or guarantee that NVIDIA will buy memory only from SK hynix. SK hynix’s July announcement

What the $500 billion figure does—and does not—mean

SK hynix said SK Group and NVIDIA signed letters of intent for a planned partnership valued at more than $500 billion, spanning AI infrastructure and memory. That is a broad initiative involving SK Group and NVIDIA—not a disclosed $500 billion memory-purchase contract. In the same announcement, SK hynix separately describes its long-term AI-memory partnership with NVIDIA as intended to support stable supply and co-development. The announcement does not assign the larger figure to memory purchases or establish that the planned value has been realized. SK hynix Newsroom, July 25, 2026

What the HBM4 forecast says

SK hynix’s January 2026 market outlook quotes UBS forecasting that SK hynix would have approximately 70% of HBM4 share for NVIDIA’s Rubin platform in 2026. This is a UBS analyst forecast as relayed by SK hynix, not a measured 2026 result or an all-market HBM share figure. It applies to a specific memory generation, platform, and year, so it should not be generalized to every NVIDIA product or the overall memory market. SK hynix’s 2026 market outlook

How much confidence to place in the investment framing

The Motley Fool’s October 4, 2026 article presents the relationship as beneficial to both companies. That is an investment thesis, not an official finding or a guarantee of returns. The company announcements establish strategic intent and a stated partnership scope; they do not quantify realized revenue, margins, future market share, or the financial impact on either company.

KLEVV DDR5 16GB (1x16GB) 5600MHz CL46 UDIMM SK Hynix A-Die Desktop Ram Memory 1.1V (KD5AGUA80-56G460A)
  • KLEVV is a premium memory brand introduced by Essencore, a global memory product and solution company. Especially well-received in the high-performance gaming memory market, popular among consumers for its quality, performance, and design. Established in 2014, Essencore distributes memory ICs from SK Hynix, a global semiconductor manufacturer, and produces KLEVV memory using SK Hynix's ICs, which is sold under its own brand. Since its launch, KLEVV has been highly regarded by users worldwide for its high-performance memory and SSD products.
  • Overwhelming Performance Improved DDR5 Memory: KLEVV DDR5 memory module delivers starting speed at 5600MT/s, 75% faster than DDR4.
  • Lower Voltage, Highly Improved Performance Built-in PMIC: While achieving 20% lower power consumption compared to DDR4 memory, DDR5 memory can reduce dynamic voltage and increase power efficiency, enabling for better power distribution.
  • Next Generation Performance DDR5: The data bus channel of existing DDR4 memory module is designed to exchange data in a 64-bit single channel, but DDR5 module allows 32-bit data to be exchanged with dual channels. You can also use only one of the two memory channels to increase memory access efficiency as well as the transfer speed.
  • Fixing Issue from the Chip Itself Improving Stability through On-Die ECC: On-Die ECC (On-Die Error Correction Code) inside the chip allows single-bit correction. It improves application security by enhancing overall data reliability.

The same Motley Fool article reports second-quarter DRAM and HBM shares for SK hynix, Micron, and Samsung, but its article text does not name the underlying data publisher or adequately specify the measurement period and methodology. Those percentages therefore should not be treated as independently verified, like-for-like market-share facts. A sound comparison would need a consistent quarter, revenue or unit basis, HBM-generation coverage, and shipment or geographic definition. The Motley Fool article
