What does the ShrinkTheWeb quality setting do?
The Drupal.org ShrinkTheWeb module guide describes quality as an optional parameter for customizing screenshot requests in the advanced PHP example. It documents a numeric range of 1–100. The guide does not define the parameter’s precise technical effect, so the range alone is not enough to infer a particular visual result or file-size change.
Where can you set quality in the Drupal integration?
The guide distinguishes between the integration’s general settings and per-request customization:
- Basic usage and field formatters: use the global settings configured on the Drupal administration page.
- Advanced PHP requests: can customize individual screenshot requests, including the optional
qualityvalue.
The guide says this optional parameter is available to all accounts. Because the page was last updated on 4 March 2019, treat these details as what that guide documents, not as independently confirmed current service behavior.

What quality value should you use?
The guide’s advanced Drupal 8 example sets quality to 90. It does not call 90 optimal, recommend it for general use, or identify it as the service’s default. Use it only as an example value from the guide; for a live integration, check the current ShrinkTheWeb API documentation or inspect the output produced by your current setup.
Does higher quality make the screenshot file bigger?
The available ShrinkTheWeb guide does not quantify the relationship between the selected value and output size or visual fidelity. It therefore does not support a promise that increasing the value will make a file larger, improve detail by a particular amount, or preserve a specific level of quality. If those trade-offs matter for your workflow, compare actual outputs from your current service configuration.

Does the quality setting work with PNG?
The ShrinkTheWeb guide does not say which image formats the parameter affects. Do not assume it applies to PNG—or that it is limited to JPEG—without checking current ShrinkTheWeb documentation or testing the format you use. Other providers document different format rules, which is why their behavior should not be treated as evidence about ShrinkTheWeb: ScreenshotAPI.net says its 0–100 quality parameter applies to JPG/JPEG and is ignored for PNG, while ScreenshotOne documents quality options for several formats.
