To see today’s date on your Samsung Galaxy Home screen, add a Clock widget and choose a style that includes the date, if your phone offers one. The available styles vary by model and software version, so check the widget picker rather than assuming every Galaxy has the same options.
Add a Clock widget that shows the date

Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.

Tap Widgets.

Find and select Clock.

Browse the available styles and select one that displays the date, if one is offered.

Tap Add. To reposition the widget, touch and hold it, then drag it where you want it on the Home screen.

This is Samsung’s general process for adding a widget. For details, see Samsung’s guide to adding apps and widgets. Widget styles and settings can vary; some widgets can be resized or customized after they are added.

Choose between Clock, Calendar, and Always On Display

If the unlocked Home screen is where you want the date, start with Clock. If you only need a day number, the Calendar icon may be sufficient on your device. For a glance while the screen is off, use Always On Display instead.
If Clock or a date-bearing style is missing

Open the widget picker and review the Clock choices available on your phone; do not assume a style shown on another Galaxy model is available on yours.

Check the other Home screen panels in case the widget was added elsewhere. Samsung’s widget troubleshooting guide also covers missing, unsupported, moved, stacked, and customizable widgets.

If the Clock widget itself is unavailable, it may not be supported on that device or software version. A managed work profile may also restrict widgets, according to Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance.

A locked Home screen layout may prevent adding a widget, according to guidance in the Samsung Community discussion. The exact setting and label can differ, so check your device’s Home screen options if the normal add steps do not work.
Why the steps and choices can differ
Samsung notes that screens and settings vary by device model and software version; its One UI 7 guide also identifies regional variation. As a result, the names of menus and the Clock styles you see may differ from the steps above.

On devices running One UI 7, Samsung documents a separate label setting at Settings > Home screen > App and widget style. Turning labels on or changing their style affects the Home screen’s appearance and available widget space; it is not required to add a date widget. See Samsung’s One UI 7 Home screen guide.
