Buy the Galaxy SmartTag3 only after checking that your phone supports the features you want. Samsung says its core finding and sharing features work through SmartThings Find on Galaxy and iOS, but iPhone users do not get Compass View, Ring Phone, or Left Behind Alert. Compass View also requires a compatible Galaxy device. Samsung announced the tracker on September 30, 2026, with U.S. availability by early November; that schedule is not confirmation of current local stock.
Will the Galaxy SmartTag3 work with your phone?
Samsung describes SmartTag3’s core finding and sharing features as available through SmartThings Find on Galaxy and iOS. However, its announcement does not list every compatible phone model or the minimum operating-system and app versions. Check Samsung’s U.S. SmartTag3 announcement and global announcement, then verify your exact phone and region before buying.
If you use an iPhone
Samsung says iOS supports core finding and sharing through SmartThings Find, but Compass View, Ring Phone, and Left Behind Alert are unavailable on iOS. If one of those features is the reason you want a tracker, SmartTag3 is not a fit for an iPhone.
If you use a Galaxy phone
Galaxy compatibility is also feature-specific. Core finding does not mean every Galaxy phone supports every proximity feature. Confirm the exact model, Android version, and feature requirements before purchase; Samsung’s reviewed announcements do not provide a complete model-by-model compatibility list.

Which Galaxy phones support Compass View?
Samsung says Compass View requires a Galaxy device running Android 12 or later with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) or Bluetooth Channel Sounding. Samsung currently identifies these phones as supporting Channel Sounding:
- Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold8
- Galaxy S26 Ultra
- Galaxy S26 Plus
Samsung says additional devices may be supported later, so do not assume that an unlisted Galaxy model has Compass View. The feature’s advertised Bluetooth Channel Sounding range is up to 60 meters under line-of-sight conditions with no obstacles, according to Samsung. Walls, nearby electronics, region, and device conditions can reduce range or accuracy.

What happens when the tag is out of range?
When your phone cannot connect to the tag directly, Samsung says the Galaxy Find Network can help update its location through participating nearby Galaxy devices. Samsung reports more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices worldwide that can act as finding nodes. That is a potential network, not a promise of immediate updates: results and timing depend on nearby devices, network conditions, settings, and region. Samsung says location data is encrypted.
SmartTag3 also supports NFC Lost Mode. You can register contact details or a short message for a finder to see, but the finder’s device must support NFC and have internet access. Samsung lists Place Notification, Location History, and Movement Detection Alert as additional features; Place Notification is a trial feature, Location History is retained for up to seven days, and network-dependent movement notices may be delayed or never arrive.

How much does the Galaxy SmartTag3 cost, and when is it available?
Samsung Electronics America announced U.S. prices of $29.99 for one tag and $99.99 for a four-pack, with U.S. availability by early November 2026. Samsung’s global announcement says availability in Korea starts October 7, followed by the U.S., with additional markets to follow in 2027. These are announced prices and schedules, not confirmation of present inventory; check Samsung or a retailer for current local availability and pricing.
What battery life, durability, and accessories should you expect?
Battery life
Samsung estimates up to 550 days under standard usage and up to 790 days in Power Saving Mode. These are manufacturer estimates based on internal simulated battery-consumption analysis using the included CR2032 battery, not a guarantee of an individual tag’s lifespan. Power Saving Mode restricts some features.

Water and dust resistance
Samsung describes SmartTag3 as IP67 water- and dust-resistant, qualified for immersion in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The company cautions that resistance can diminish over time and advises against beach or pool use.
Attachment options
Samsung names a Silicone Case with keyring and a Loop Case as official accessories, sold separately. A detached tag or accessory may pose a swallowing hazard to children and pets. If attaching a tag to a pet’s collar, secure it carefully and inspect the attachment regularly.

Should you buy it now or wait?
Buy SmartTag3 if you have a compatible Galaxy phone, the Galaxy finding network suits the places where you need to locate belongings, and its feature set matches your needs. An iPhone owner can use the core finding and sharing features Samsung describes, but should not buy it expecting Compass View, Ring Phone, or Left Behind Alert. If you need Compass View, verify support for your particular Galaxy model rather than relying on the Galaxy name alone.
If you are deciding whether to order before release, wait until a retailer confirms local stock, final price, and compatibility for your exact phone. Samsung’s launch announcement establishes its U.S. price and availability window, but not the inventory or terms offered by an individual retailer.
