Shark robot lights can show normal operating states as well as faults, and the same error number can mean different things on different models. Check the robot’s exact model number and match the complete light pattern—not just the number—to its owner’s guide. Shark’s official guides for the 2400WD Matrix and RV2620WDUK Matrix illustrate why there is no single chart that applies to every Shark robot.

Start with the model and the complete indicator pattern

Find the model number on the robot or its documentation, then open the matching owner’s guide. Record which indicators are lit, their color, and whether they are solid, flashing, pulsing, or alternating. If the robot displays or speaks a code, note that too.

Read the number and lights together. In the 2400WD Series Shark Matrix 2-in-1 Robot Owner’s Guide, error 2 has several possible meanings depending on which indicators flash. Other Shark robot families use different indicator layouts and code combinations, so do not apply one model’s chart to another.

Lights that can indicate normal operation

Not every illuminated light means the robot has a fault. UK Shark robot manuals describe examples of normal states, including booting, standby, returning to the base, charging, connecting to Wi-Fi, and evacuating debris. The exact indicators vary by model.

Code Meaning in the 2400WD guide What to check
2 Depending on the flashing indicators: stuck side brush, stuck drive wheel, wheel motor encoder failure, or brushroll blockage. Clear visible debris from the indicated brush or wheel. Contact Shark Customer Service for the encoder failure combination.
3 Suction motor failure. Empty the dust bin, clean the filters, remove the brushroll and brushroll door, and clear blockages as directed in the guide.
6 The front bumper may be jammed. Clean the bumper and check that it moves freely.
7 Cliff sensor error. Move the robot and clean the sensors.
9 The dust bin needs to be reinstalled. Seat it until it clicks.
10 The robot may be stuck on an obstacle. Move it to a level surface.
16 The robot is stuck. Move it and check that the bumper moves freely.
21 Booting error. Turn the robot off and on as directed by the guide.
24 Different light combinations indicate critically low battery or a charging error. Follow the instruction for the specific combination and use the correct base power cord.
25 The fluid reservoir is empty. Refill it with water or the specified VACMOP solution before restarting.

Consult the 2400WD owner’s guide for the exact indicator combinations and complete instructions. These code meanings should not be transferred to another Shark model.

Other Shark Matrix manuals use different layouts

The UK RV2620WDUK Shark Matrix Robot Owner’s Guide uses CLEAN, DOCK, and exclamation indicators. Its combinations cover issues such as brush or wheel problems, suction motor failure, bumper or cliff sensor faults, dust-bin installation, the robot being stuck, booting or charging errors, and an empty fluid reservoir. Use that guide’s own chart rather than interpreting its lights using the 2400WD table.

What a beep means

The official guides cited here do not provide a general beep-to-error-code key. Sound behavior may depend on the model and situation, so a beep alone is not enough to identify a fault. Check the exact robot’s owner’s guide or contact Shark support for model-specific guidance; the available manuals do not establish that every model lacks sound instructions.

A safe troubleshooting sequence

  1. Identify the model. Read the model number from the robot or its documentation.
  2. Record the indicators. Note every lit symbol, its color, and whether it is solid, flashing, pulsing, or alternating; include any displayed or spoken code.
  3. Look up the complete pattern. Use the matching model’s manual. If that pattern is not listed, do not assume another model’s chart applies.
  4. Clear only the obstruction the guide identifies. Turn the robot off as directed. Remove visible hair or debris from a stuck side brush, brushroll, wheel, or bumper. Clean cliff sensors when the manual points to a sensor error.
  5. Reseat the dust bin or recharge if indicated. For a bin installation fault, reinstall it until it clicks. For a low-battery indication, place the robot correctly on its base and check for the charging indication described in its guide.
  6. Escalate unresolved faults. Contact Shark support if the guide identifies a motor or encoder failure, the error remains after the listed checks, or the indicator pattern is not covered. Use the support contact information for your region and product.

When a replacement part may be appropriate

A brushroll, side brush, or filter may need replacement if inspection shows it is damaged or worn; a blockage by itself calls for clearing debris first. Shark’s Matrix manuals list replacement parts, but compatibility varies. Confirm the robot’s model number and the exact part compatibility before buying rather than assuming one part fits all Shark robots.
