Shacknews announced a DayZ Badlands playtest stream for October 8, 2026, featuring Jan Ole Peek and friends exploring Nasdara. The scheduled stream date has passed, so this is a recap of what the announcement said was planned—not a report of verified stream footage or playtest results.
What Shacknews announced
In an article published October 8, 2026, Shacknews said Jan Ole Peek and friends had access to the upcoming DayZ Badlands playtest and planned to visit Nasdara for the first time. The announcement described an evening of exploration, with the group intending to keep playing over the next few days and look for interactions with other players. Read the Shacknews announcement.
Its description set the scene with wind-swept dunes, dry deserts, and hidden underground secrets. Those are the announcement’s promotional descriptions; it does not independently verify map features or what the players encountered.
When and where the stream was scheduled
Shacknews listed the stream for 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET on October 8, 2026. It promoted a dual-viewpoint broadcast across Twitch, YouTube, X, and Facebook. That schedule is historical; the announcement does not establish whether a recording is currently available or what the stream ultimately showed.

What the announcement said about Badlands’ release
Shacknews described Badlands as “just a week away” and gave October 15, 2026 as its release date. That was the date stated in the October 8 announcement, not confirmation that the DLC launched then. The Steam DayZ listing reviewed for this article displayed DayZ Badlands in its downloadable content section with a “Coming Soon” status, and does not establish whether the historical release date was met.
How Badlands fits into DayZ
Steam identifies Bohemia Interactive as both developer and publisher of DayZ and describes the game as a multiplayer survival sandbox. Its listing presents Badlands as downloadable content for DayZ. The cited announcement and store listing do not establish Badlands’ final contents, price, console availability, regional release timing, or current release status.
