Can Seattle respond at home?
Seattle’s October 2 preview said the loss in Washington ended a franchise-record 12-game overall winning streak. Its eight-game home winning streak remained active entering the Chargers game, and the team had five of its next six games scheduled at Lumen Field. A strong home run is context, not a guarantee of Sunday’s result.

Smith-Njigba’s production is the central offensive storyline
Through Seattle’s first three games, Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 27 catches, 405 receiving yards and six touchdowns, according to the Seahawks’ October 2 preview. The team said his yardage and touchdown totals led the NFL, while his reception total was tied for the league lead with Chris Olave. Those are early-season, through-three-games figures, not a full-season projection.

The same Seahawks retrospective credited Smith-Njigba with 119 receptions, 1,793 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in the 2025 season. That prior-season line helps frame his role, but the available matchup information does not establish a specific Chargers coverage plan or a one-on-one tactical advantage.
Williams brings a pass-rush question
Leonard Williams led Seattle with three sacks and five tackles for loss through the first three games, according to the Seahawks’ October 2 preview. The team also reported the Chargers had allowed three sacks in each of their two preceding games. That sets up a clear area to watch: whether Seattle can pressure Justin Herbert. It does not establish how many sacks either team will record Sunday.

What the Chargers are trying to change
Los Angeles arrived at 0-3, looking for a complete performance as well as its first win. Chargers tackle Joe Alt described the goal this way: “We all just want to put a complete game together as an entire team.” He added, “The mindset right now is getting better, honing in on the details and just putting that game together. We’re chasing a win. It’s whatever we can do to get a win.”

Coaching links and respect between the teams
Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald previously worked for Jim Harbaugh, now the Chargers’ head coach. Jim Harbaugh is also the father of Seattle special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh. Macdonald called Los Angeles “a really good football team,” and cautioned that three games are a small sample; he described the Chargers as talented, well-coached, tough, physical and sound schematically. The connection adds familiarity, but it does not by itself establish a tactical edge.
Pregame injury designations
The Chargers’ October 2 injury report listed Derwin James and Ladd McConkey among five players designated questionable; four Chargers were ruled out on that report. Seattle’s report listed running back Zach Charbonnet out and safety Ty Okada questionable. These are dated pregame designations, not confirmation of final game-day availability or inactive status.
