The SCUF Nomad is a Bluetooth controller for supported iPhones running iOS 16 or later. It adds symmetrical thumbsticks, two customizable rear paddles, adjustable controls through a companion app, and a separate rechargeable battery rated by SCUF for up to 16 hours. It does not work with Android phones, and compatibility with a particular iPhone case must be checked rather than assumed.
Does the SCUF Nomad work with my iPhone?
SCUF describes the Nomad as “Designed for iPhone and compatible with iOS 16+.” Your phone must run iOS 16 or later and appear on SCUF’s supported-model list. Check that list before ordering, especially if you use an older iPhone or a recently released model whose fit has not been confirmed.
The controller connects wirelessly over Bluetooth 5.0. It is not a Lightning or USB-C controller that draws power directly from the phone while you play.
Does the SCUF Nomad work with Android?
No. SCUF support states that the Nomad is incompatible with Android. Choosing it only makes sense if your gaming phone is a supported iPhone.

How the SCUF Nomad app works
SCUF says its companion app is free and does not require a subscription. Its stated functions include:
- Assigning inputs to the two rear paddles
- Adjusting thumbstick and trigger sensitivity
- Saving control profiles
- Organizing or launching controller-supported games
- Capturing or recording gameplay with the SCUF button
Controller support is determined by each game. The app cannot make an iPhone title compatible if the game itself does not recognize external controllers. SCUF has also described support for hundreds of apps in older FAQ material, but any service mentioned there as planned should be verified before relying on it.

Can you use the SCUF Nomad with an iPhone case?
SCUF says the Nomad accommodates many cases, not every case. A thin case is more likely to fit than a bulky protective case, and unusual camera-bump designs or phone dimensions can interfere with the controller’s grips. Confirm the exact phone-and-case combination with SCUF or the retailer’s current fit information before buying.
Does it work with an iPad?
SCUF’s FAQ says the Nomad can work with iPads running iPadOS 16 or later. However, SCUF also notes that the companion app is not optimized for full-screen iPad use. Treat iPad compatibility as a secondary use case rather than the product’s primary design target.

How long does the battery last?
SCUF rates the Nomad for up to 16 hours on a charge. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independent test result. The controller has its own rechargeable battery and charges through USB-C, so normal wireless play does not consume the phone’s battery as a wired controller would.

It is a sensible choice for an iPhone gamer who wants console-style controls, rear paddles, adjustable profiles, and wireless play in a phone-mounted design. The strongest reasons to choose it are the physical controls and software customization rather than a universal game guarantee.

How it compares with other mobile controllers
There is no controlled head-to-head evidence here to name the Nomad the best mobile controller. Compare any alternative on the following points:
- Supported iPhone models, operating systems, and Android compatibility
- Mounting method and clearance for your case and camera bump
- Bluetooth versus direct USB connection
- Whether the phone can charge while you play
- Controller battery capacity and runtime
- Stick layout, paddles or rear buttons, ergonomics, and remapping
- Required app and the specific games or remote-play services supported
- Current price, warranty, availability, and included accessories
Price and availability
CORSAIR announced a $99 MSRP on May 30, 2024. SCUF’s support FAQ lists $99.99, but that is not a verified current street price. Check a live retailer or SCUF listing for today’s price, stock, model, and color options.
SCUF Nomad setup checklist
- Confirm that your iPhone model is on SCUF’s supported list and runs iOS 16 or later.
- Remove or test your case to ensure the phone seats fully without pressure on the camera area.
- Charge the controller through its USB-C port.
- Pair the Nomad with the iPhone through Bluetooth.
- Install the SCUF companion app, then map the rear paddles and adjust sensitivity.
- Open a game known to support external controllers and verify every assigned input.
- Save a profile for that game if you use different layouts.
Bottom line
The SCUF Nomad is an iPhone-first Bluetooth controller with useful rear paddles, profile customization, and SCUF-rated battery life of up to 16 hours. Buy it only after confirming your iPhone model, case fit, and game compatibility; Android users should choose a different controller.
