Capture a full-page screenshot with Screenshotlayer
The following is a documentation-based request example, not a live-tested request. Replace the access-key placeholder with your key and URL-encode query values, especially the target URL. The Screenshotlayer specification illustrates the endpoint using HTTP and says paid customers may use HTTPS; the FAQ also describes HTTPS as a paid feature. Confirm HTTPS availability for your account before using it.

This requests a capture of the target website’s full height rather than only the visible viewport. It is the essential switch for a full-page capture.

viewport
This sets the browser-rendering viewport dimensions, in the form widthxheight. The API specification lists 1440x900 as the default and shows 2560x1440 in a full-height example. Viewport dimensions influence responsive layout, so choose the width that matches the page presentation you want. A page rendered at a narrow mobile-like width can wrap differently from one rendered at a desktop width.
Full-page capture and viewport size are separate controls: fullpage=1 asks for the whole page height, while viewport controls the rendering frame and responsive layout.

Choose output format and optional capture controls
The specification lists PNG as the default format. Screenshotlayer’s FAQ lists PNG, JPEG, and GIF; its product page advertises WebP for paid plan tiers. Confirm your account’s current format availability before depending on a particular output format.

Understand caching and fresh captures
Screenshotlayer’s FAQ states a default cache duration of 2,592,000 seconds (30 days). The ttl parameter can set a shorter lifetime, and the FAQ says a custom TTL must be lower than that default. Use force=1 when you want to request a fresh capture instead of relying on a cached result. The cache behavior and these limits are documented by Screenshotlayer; verify current behavior in its FAQ.

For parallel capture planning, Screenshotlayer defines a dedicated worker as a server entity assigned to capture one screenshot, and says ten workers allow ten concurrent captures. Compare the worker count, monthly allowance, commercial-use permission, HTTPS availability, and required output format with your actual workload before choosing a plan. Conditions that can affect the result
- Authentication: The reviewed sources do not promise that pages behind a login can be captured. Confirm that your intended target is accessible through the API’s documented request options before building a workflow around a private page.
- Delayed content: A capture may not reflect content that appears only after substantial client-side work. The API offers
delay, but documentation does not guarantee a particular rendering outcome for every site. - Responsive design: A different viewport can produce a different layout and page height. Set the viewport to the width whose responsive presentation you need.
- Changing pages: A cached response can be older than the current page. Use
force=1when you need a fresh capture request.

The API specification says failures return an error code, error type, and informational message. Check the returned error details, then work through the likely causes:
