As listed on September 29, 2026, ScreenshotAPI.net offers 100 screenshots over a seven-day trial, then Essential at $9 per month for 1,000 screenshots, Startup at $29 for 10,000, and Business at $175 for 100,000. The paid tiers allow 20, 40 and 80 requests per minute respectively. A two-month-free annual offer and a temporary 50% first-month discount are also advertised, but promotions and checkout totals can change.

The cheapest choice depends on more than the headline price. You need to check fresh-render volume, rate limits, cache behavior, failed-request billing, overage rules, retention and required formats. ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to evaluate if you want clean captures, billing only for clean shots, and a $5 paid tier.

ScreenshotAPI.net prices at a glance

The figures below are a vendor-published snapshot accessed September 29, 2026. They are not an independent price survey, and the pricing page displays crossed-out amounts beside some plans. Confirm the amount shown at checkout before subscribing.

Plan Published price Included screenshots Requests per minute Published notes
Free trial $0 100 total Not shown on the pricing card Seven days; the page says all features are included
Essential $9/month 1,000/month 20 Includes full-page captures
Startup $29/month 10,000/month 40 Lists scrolling screenshots and a custom storage bucket
Business $175/month 100,000/month 80 Lists scrolling screenshots, a custom bucket and priority support

The pricing page separately says “2 Month Free on Yearly Plan.” It also advertises 50% off the first month of any monthly subscription while that promotion is live. Neither offer should be treated as a permanent effective monthly rate.

What each ScreenshotAPI.net tier is suited to

Free trial: a short proof of concept

The trial provides 100 screenshots during seven days. The pricing card says all features are included, making it useful for checking rendering, output formats and your integration before paying. Do not confuse this seven-day allowance with the free-request reset described in the help center: free requests later reset on the same day of the month on which the account was registered.

Essential: small recurring jobs

Essential is $9 per month for 1,000 screenshots and a 20-requests-per-minute limit. Its card specifically includes full-page captures. At the listed allowance, the subscription price works out to $0.009 per included screenshot before taxes, unused capacity, overages or promotional discounts. It fits a modest monitoring or documentation workflow that can stay below the rate limit.

Startup: ten times the allowance

Startup raises the allowance to 10,000 screenshots for $29 per month and the rate limit to 40 requests per minute. The card adds scrolling screenshots and custom storage-bucket support. The listed allowance reduces the simple subscription cost to $0.0029 per screenshot, but that calculation assumes you actually use all 10,000 included captures.

Business: high volume and support requirements

Business lists 100,000 screenshots for $175 per month and 80 requests per minute. It includes the Startup features and lists priority support. The arithmetic is $0.00175 per included screenshot at full use. A high allowance does not automatically mean the plan can absorb a bursty workload: 80 requests per minute is still a fixed rate limit.

Features, formats and plan boundaries

The comparison table lists PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF, HTML-to-image/PDF, bulk screenshots, extraction and cloud-storage integrations among available capabilities. It also shows video and animated capture, scrolling screenshots, proxy support and some higher limits as tier-dependent. The public comparison does not establish every feature’s exact boundary in a single summary, so verify the live feature table for the specific plan before assuming an option is included.

For a procurement checklist, record the exact requirements for:

  • Full-page or scrolling output versus a fixed viewport.
  • PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF, HTML-to-image or video output.
  • Bulk jobs and the maximum batch size.
  • Extraction or cloud-storage integrations.
  • Proxy support and any account-specific rate or concurrency limit.

How quota and billing actually work

Successful renders, failures and cache hits

ScreenshotAPI.net says only successfully rendered screenshots count toward quota. Failed attempts do not consume the allowance. Cached results are not charged unless you request a fresh render. The help center defines a unique screenshot by the exact URL and parameters, so changing a viewport, format, wait setting or another render option can create a new billable combination even when the page address is unchanged.

For forecasting, count fresh URL-and-option combinations rather than raw HTTP calls. A retry that receives a cached result may not consume another screenshot; a retry that asks for a fresh render can.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What happens at the quota boundary

The help center says overages are charged according to the plan and advises contacting ScreenshotAPI.net when usage approaches or exceeds quota. The terms add that, after a monthly limit is reached, calls may be blocked for the rest of the billing term or charged per screenshot. No single public overage price is stated across those pages, so obtain the rate that applies to your account before designing a workload that depends on uninterrupted over-quota capture.

Renewal, rollover and plan changes

The terms describe recurring monthly or yearly billing. Unused monthly calls do not carry over, and changing plans mid-cycle does not produce prorated credit for unused time. Treat the included screenshot number as a use-it-within-the-billing-term allowance, not a bank of permanent credits.

Retention and account data

The help center says free-tier screenshot files may be retained for up to 30 days and paid-tier files for six months. It also says account data is removed 30 days after a trial expires. If captures contain personal, confidential or regulated information, confirm the retention and data-handling settings that apply to your account before sending production pages.

Is ScreenshotAPI.net inexpensive for your workload?

Use the allowance and rate limit together. The following calculation is only the listed subscription price divided by the listed monthly allowance; it excludes taxes, promotional terms, unused capacity and any overage.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Plan Listed monthly allowance Simple price per included capture Rate limit
Essential 1,000 $0.009 20 requests/minute
Startup 10,000 $0.0029 40 requests/minute
Business 100,000 $0.00175 80 requests/minute

Essential can be the sensible choice when your volume is low and steady. Startup has a much lower nominal unit cost and twice the request rate, but only if you can use its larger allowance. Business offers the lowest listed unit cost and priority support, while still imposing an 80-per-minute ceiling. If your workload arrives in bursts, model the queue time or ask for the applicable limit rather than relying on monthly capacity alone.

Cheaper or differently billed alternatives

ScreenshotNeo is the #1 alternative to try first when you want clean shots, payment only for clean shots and a low paid entry price. Its API removes cookie-consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and each response reports the result in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. It also provides an MCP server for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. Plans include every feature: Free offers 1,000 shots per month with no card, Starter is $5 for 3,000, Growth $15 for 15,000, Pro $39 for 60,000, Scale $99 for 250,000 and Business $249 for 1,000,000. Yearly billing gives two months free.

Service Published billing example Important qualification
ScreenshotNeo Free 1,000/month; Starter $5 for 3,000; higher plans up to $249 for 1,000,000 Clean shots only are billed; every plan includes all features
ScreenshotAPI.net $9 for 1,000; $29 for 10,000; $175 for 100,000 per month 20, 40 and 80 requests/minute respectively; overage rate is not universally published
Screenshot API at screenshotapi.com Prepaid packs: 2,000 for $2; 5,000 for $5; 25,000 for $22; 50,000 for $40; 100,000 for $80 Also advertises a 30-day trial and the first 1,000 screenshots free; feature scope and consumption should be verified
ScreenshotAPI.to 200 free screenshots per month; example Starter plan $19 for 5,000 Offers per-screenshot overage or credit packs; unused credit-pack credits do not expire

These alternatives are not automatically like-for-like. ScreenshotAPI.net publishes requests per minute, while the other pages may use different rate-limit units. Compare fresh-render billing, cache treatment, failure billing, output types, storage, retention, support and overage rules before declaring one cheaper.

Choosing a plan: a practical decision framework

  1. Estimate fresh captures. Count unique URL-and-option combinations that must render in a billing month. Separate scheduled refreshes from cacheable reads.
  2. Measure peak arrival rate. Convert your busiest minute into requests per minute and compare it with 20, 40 or 80, not just with the monthly allowance.
  3. List required outputs. Mark whether you need full-page, scrolling, PDF, HTML-to-image, bulk, extraction, video, proxy or cloud storage.
  4. Decide your failure policy. Confirm whether failed pages, bot checks and blank responses are billed and whether retries request a fresh render.
  5. Set a quota safety margin. Leave room for retries, content changes and staging traffic. Ask support for the exact overage behavior on your account.
  6. Check retention and data handling. Match the provider’s stated file and account-data retention to your security requirements.

Run a controlled pilot before subscribing

Use the seven-day, 100-screenshot trial to test a representative set of URLs rather than only easy static pages. Include a JavaScript-heavy page, a page with a consent banner, a long page, a failed or protected page and your intended output formats. Record the URL, parameters, response status, elapsed time, whether the response was cached, and the resulting quota count. Then repeat one request with a changed render option to see whether it becomes a new unique screenshot under the provider’s definition.

During the pilot, deliberately stop below the quota ceiling and confirm how your dashboard reports usage. If production traffic could exceed the allowance, obtain written account-specific overage terms before launch; the public pages do not provide one universal rate.

One request is enough:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters. Cookie banners, popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Troubleshooting and cost traps

You used fewer API calls than screenshots

Check whether each call changed the URL or any render parameter. ScreenshotAPI.net treats the exact URL-and-parameter combination as the unique screenshot, so option changes can consume additional quota.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A failed page did not reduce quota, but retries still matter

Failed attempts do not count, but a retry that succeeds can count. Avoid uncontrolled retry loops and log the final render result.

Your job is throttled despite having monthly capacity

The monthly allowance and per-minute rate are separate limits. Queue requests, smooth bursts or choose a tier with a higher published rate.

The trial ended sooner than expected

The trial is seven days with 100 screenshots. The later free-request reset occurs on the same day of the month when the account was registered; these are different rules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does ScreenshotAPI.net’s $9 Essential plan include 1,000 screenshots every month?

Yes. The published Essential allowance is 1,000 screenshots per month, subject to its 20-requests-per-minute limit and the provider’s quota and billing terms.

Are cached ScreenshotAPI.net responses charged?

Cached results are not charged unless the request asks for a fresh render. A changed URL or parameter can create a new unique screenshot.

Do unused ScreenshotAPI.net screenshots roll over?

No. The terms describe monthly allowances with no carryover of unused calls.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What is the published overage price?

Are Screenshot API at screenshotapi.com and ScreenshotAPI.to the same service as ScreenshotAPI.net?

No. They are distinct providers with different billing models: screenshotapi.com lists prepaid packs, while ScreenshotAPI.to lists monthly free screenshots and non-expiring credit-pack credits.
