For most people comfortable with a little setup, scrcpy is the better default: it is free, open source, and supports flexible USB or network control. Vysor is the better fit if you prefer a packaged graphical interface and want its advertised conveniences, such as wireless connections or file transfer, even if those features may require Premium. Neither tool has a proven head-to-head advantage for speed or reliability.
What scrcpy and Vysor do
Both let you view and control an Android phone from a computer, using the computer’s display, keyboard, and mouse. The scrcpy project describes its app as mirroring Android devices over USB or TCP/IP and allowing control from a computer; Vysor similarly describes its product as casting and commanding mobile devices from a computer. These are vendor and project descriptions, not independent test results.

Choose scrcpy if control and cost matter most
Scrcpy is a strong choice if you want to avoid a paid tier, value open-source software, or need options beyond a basic mirror. The project lists support for Linux, Windows, and macOS, and says Android devices can connect over USB or TCP/IP. It does not require installing an Android-side app, according to its documentation.

Standard use does require enabling USB debugging. The documented minimum is Android API 21 (Android 5.0). Some input-control problems on Xiaomi devices may require enabling the separate “USB debugging (Security Settings)” option in Developer Options and then rebooting. The project also documents OTG mode as an option that does not require USB debugging.
Scrcpy’s README for version 4.1 lists performance figures of 30–120 fps depending on the device, 1920×1080 or higher resolution, 35–70 ms latency, and about one second to display the first image. Those are project-published claims, not independently measured results or a comparison with Vysor; actual performance can vary with device and setup.

- Camera features: the project lists camera support for Android 12 and later.
- Recording and display options: the feature list includes recording, virtual display, and screen-off mirroring.
- Input and clipboard options: the project lists copy/paste, keyboard and mouse HID, and gamepad support.
Choose Vysor if you prefer a GUI and bundled conveniences
Vysor may be more comfortable if you want a graphical workflow rather than configuring a tool through project instructions. The vendor says Android devices use USB Debugging and do not need root. Its free access is described as basic USB casting and command; Premium is advertised with advanced options including Wi-Fi, HD, recording, file transfer, and Team Sharing.
Vysor’s website advertised Premium starting at $2.50 per month when accessed on October 4, 2026. Treat that as a vendor-listed starting price at that date, not a guaranteed current or globally applicable price. Check Vysor’s current plan terms and feature availability before subscribing.

How to control an Android phone over USB or Wi-Fi
With scrcpy over USB
- Get scrcpy from the official Genymobile GitHub repository. The project warns that similarly named download sites are not official.
- On the phone, enable Developer Options and USB debugging. The exact path to Developer Options varies by Android manufacturer and version.
- Connect the phone to the computer with a USB data cable and approve the USB debugging prompt on the phone if it appears.
- Follow the repository’s instructions for your computer’s operating system to launch scrcpy. The phone screen should appear in a desktop window, where the keyboard and mouse can control it.
A USB-C or other compatible cable is only needed if you do not already have a suitable cable; make sure it supports data, not just charging.
With scrcpy over TCP/IP
The project documents TCP/IP connections, but the exact steps depend on the device, network, and scrcpy version. Follow the current wireless setup instructions in the official repository. Wireless use does not remove the need to configure the connection, and no comparable reliability or latency result for Wi-Fi versus USB has been established.

With Vysor
Install or open Vysor using the option for your computer, connect the Android phone by USB, and enable USB Debugging when prompted. Vysor advertises Wi-Fi as a Premium feature; consult its current instructions and plan information for wireless setup.

- Pick Vysor if a graphical workflow is your priority and you are willing to check whether the paid features you need are included in the current plan.
- Start with USB if you want the more straightforward connection path; choose wireless only after checking that the selected tool and plan support it.
There is no established independent, directly comparable benchmark here for latency, setup time, image quality, or reliability. A claim that one is categorically faster or more dependable would go beyond the available evidence.
