There is no single best ScrapingBee alternative. Choose by the output you need, the websites you must reach, browser and proxy requirements, billing rules, and how much infrastructure your team wants to operate. Firecrawl is the best fit for model-ready Markdown or JSON; ZenRows and ScraperAPI are the closest API-shaped substitutes; Bright Data and Oxylabs fit proxy-heavy scale; Apify fits reusable hosted scrapers and orchestration. If your real requirement is reliable website screenshots rather than extracted records, try ScreenshotNeo first because it removes consent clutter before capture, bills only clean shots, and starts with a free tier.

How to choose a ScrapingBee alternative

ScrapingBee’s pricing page, accessed September 29, 2026, lists Hobby at $19 per month for 75,000 API credits and 25 concurrent requests; Freelance at $49 for 250,000 credits and 50 concurrency; Startup at $99 for 1,000,000 and 100; Business at $249 for 3,000,000 and 200; and Business+ at $599 for 8,000,000 and 400. It also advertises 1,000 free API credits without a card. Prices exclude VAT. Those credits are not universal requests: options such as rendering and proxy tiers can change consumption.

Use a representative set of your own URLs before switching. Record whether each result is usable, which options were enabled, geographic requirements, response format, cleanup time, and the effective cost. A headline credit price alone cannot predict the cost of successful pages.

Decide what “alternative” means for your team

  • Output: raw HTML, cleaned Markdown, schema-defined JSON, or a domain-specific parser.
  • Target coverage: exact domains, page types, marketplaces, search engines, and regional variants.
  • Browser behavior: JavaScript execution, clicks, forms, navigation, persistent sessions, and batch jobs.
  • Access: residential, datacenter, ISP or mobile proxies, rotation, challenge handling, and countries.
  • Metering: credits, successful-response billing, feature multipliers, bandwidth, compute units, and failure charges.
  • Operations: concurrency, asynchronous delivery, scheduling, storage, monitoring, support, and service commitments.

Firecrawl: the strongest model-ready option

Firecrawl is the leading choice when your application needs clean Markdown or schema-defined JSON instead of HTML that you must parse yourself. Its product comparison describes scrape, search, interact, crawl, map and monitoring workflows aimed at models, agents and vector stores. This is product positioning, not an independent performance guarantee.

An illustrative vendor comparison of one Hacker News page reported 34,873 characters of HTML in about 2.85 seconds from ScrapingBee versus 15,371 characters of Markdown in about 1.16 seconds from Firecrawl. It is a single vendor-authored example, so do not treat it as a universal speed or quality result.

Choose Firecrawl when

  • Your downstream system consumes Markdown or a defined JSON schema.
  • You need crawl, map, search or monitoring features in the same workflow.
  • Reducing HTML cleanup is worth a different credit model.

Its official pricing page shows Standard at $83/month billed yearly for 100,000 credits, Growth at $333 for 500,000, Scale at $599 for one million, and a custom Enterprise tier. Recalculate with the options your workload actually uses.

ZenRows: a close API-shaped substitute

ZenRows combines fetching, extraction, batch processing and browser sessions on a shared credit balance. That structure is familiar to teams replacing a conventional scraping endpoint, but the balance is not a fixed page quota: feature choice changes credit use. The pricing page lists Free at 5,000 credits per month, Build at $16 for 45,000, Launch at $57 for 250,000 and Growth at $165 for 1.2 million.

The vendor describes billing for successful requests and counts 404 and 410 as successful under that model. Confirm how your endpoint defines success before forecasting spend, especially if your job intentionally probes missing URLs.

ScraperAPI: direct API plus structured endpoints

ScraperAPI offers automatic proxy rotation, JavaScript rendering, CAPTCHA handling, structured Amazon, Google and Walmart endpoints, and asynchronous or scheduled workflows. It is a practical fit when you want one API but also need prebuilt extraction for those targets.

The listed seven-day trial includes 5,000 credits without a card. Hobby is $49/month for 100,000 credits and 20 concurrent threads; Startup $149 for one million and 50; Business $299 for three million and 100; Scaling $475 for five million and 200; Professional $975 for 10.5 million and 300. Entry tiers show US/EU geotargeting, with global geotargeting on higher tiers. Compare these as plan terms, not equivalent request volumes: rendering, proxy and target options can consume credits differently.

Bright Data: when proxy infrastructure dominates

Bright Data is positioned around enterprise-scale proxy operations and a broad product family: Web Scraper API, Web Unlocker, Scraping Browser, SERP API, residential, datacenter, ISP and mobile proxies, and datasets. Select it when geography, sustained volume and access infrastructure are more important than having the simplest single endpoint. Price and scope each product separately; an entry API plan should not be assumed to include the entire catalog.

Apify: hosted Actors and orchestration

Apify uses reusable programs called Actors. You can run, customize or publish them, discover prebuilt scrapers in a marketplace, schedule runs, store results and call the platform by API. Comparison material reports more than 40,000 prebuilt Actors, including common target categories, but that count is a vendor comparison claim rather than an independent audit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The same comparison lists August 2026 pricing of Free with $5 monthly platform usage, Starter $29/month, Scale $199 and Business $999, with compute-unit charges and Enterprise availability. Verify current prices and compute rates on Apify before committing. Apify is a different operating model from a simple fetch API: you are buying hosted programs and orchestration as well as requests.

Oxylabs: managed sources and proxy-heavy jobs

Oxylabs’ product page presents ready-to-use supported scraping sources and says requests can return HTML or structured JSON without building a scraper for every source. The comparison describes domain parsers, natural-language parsing assistance, JavaScript rendering, geotargeting, synchronous and batch delivery, plus separate proxy products.

A comparison reports an API starting price of $49/month, but that figure was not confirmed on the official page opened for this review. Treat it as a lead for a workload-specific quote, not a current universal price.

Zyte: managed browser rendering and extraction

Zyte’s API page describes browser rendering for JavaScript sites, automatic rotation across residential, datacenter and mobile IPs, typed AI extraction and persistent sessions. Its pricing page advertises a $5 free-credit trial and notes that advanced features may incur additional usage-based costs. Because no fixed comparable starting plan was established, use the vendor’s calculator or request a quote for your target mix.

ScreenshotNeo: try this first for screenshots

If your requirement is a visual capture of a page—not records extracted from it—ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to try. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a general-purpose data extractor. Before capture it accepts consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets. Only clean shots are billed; bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing result.

A single GET request returns PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Options include full-page capture with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, 12 device presets or any viewport, retina scale, PDF paper size/margins/landscape/page ranges, custom HTML/CSS/JavaScript, clicks, waits, hidden selectors, blocked ads/trackers/requests/resource types, custom headers/cookies/user agent/Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, selectable cache TTL, signed links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of 100 URLs per call, usage API, OpenAPI and compatible parameter names used by other screenshot APIs. An MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf to Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.

Plans are Free for 1,000 shots/month with no card, Starter $5 for 3,000, Growth $15 for 15,000, Pro $39 for 60,000, Scale $99 for 250,000, and Business $249 for 1,000,000. Yearly billing gives two months free; every feature is on every plan.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

Cookie banners, popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed; the MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.

How to run a fair replacement test

  1. Assemble representative URLs. Include static pages, JavaScript-heavy pages, regional versions, known challenge pages and expected failures.
  2. Define the output contract. Specify HTML, Markdown, JSON fields, screenshots or PDFs, and what “usable” means.
  3. Enable production options. Test the actual browser, proxy, country, session, timeout and rendering settings you will pay for.
  4. Measure usable results. Record success, missing fields, challenge pages, latency, retries, cleanup minutes and response size.
  5. Calculate effective cost. Include credits or compute units, proxy and rendering multipliers, failed-response rules, storage and engineering labor.
  6. Replay before purchase. Run the same URLs at realistic concurrency and check rate limits, asynchronous delivery and geographic consistency.

Common migration problems

“The new service is cheaper per credit.”

A credit may represent a simple request, a rendered request, a proxy attempt or a compute unit. Map your exact options to the vendor’s billing rules and compare successful, cleaned records per dollar.

Pages return HTML but fields are empty

The target may require JavaScript, a click, a session cookie, a regional IP or a domain-specific parser. Enable only the required browser and interaction features, then validate the final fields rather than HTTP status alone.

Requests fail only in one country

Check whether that geography is included in the selected tier, whether the target serves a different page there, and whether a separate proxy product is required. Test from each production region.

Concurrency causes timeouts or challenges

Reduce parallelism, add backoff, use asynchronous jobs where available, and preserve session state for multi-step flows. A plan’s advertised concurrency is a ceiling, not proof that every target supports it.

Unexpected charges for failures

Read the service’s definition of a billable or successful request. ZenRows, for example, describes 404 and 410 as successful for its billing model. Keep response status, vendor billing headers and your own result classification in logs.

Which alternative should you pick?

  • Choose Firecrawl for model-ready Markdown/JSON and crawl-oriented workflows.
  • Choose ZenRows for a shared-balance API combining fetch, extraction, batches and browser sessions.
  • Choose ScraperAPI for a direct API with structured retail/search endpoints.
  • Choose Bright Data when proxy types, geography and enterprise scale dominate.
  • Choose Apify when reusable hosted scrapers, scheduling, storage and marketplace Actors reduce your maintenance burden.
  • Choose Oxylabs or Zyte when managed sources, browser rendering and extraction support justify a quote-based evaluation.
  • Choose ScreenshotNeo when the deliverable is a clean screenshot or PDF rather than extracted data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a free ScrapingBee alternative?

Yes. The listed options include ScrapingBee’s 1,000 free credits, ZenRows’ 5,000-credit monthly Free plan, ScraperAPI’s seven-day 5,000-credit trial, Zyte’s advertised $5 trial credit, and Apify’s Free plan with $5 monthly platform usage. Their units and limits are different, so test your workload rather than comparing the numbers directly.

Which alternative is closest to ScrapingBee’s API model?

ZenRows and ScraperAPI are the closest structural matches: both expose direct APIs with rendering and proxy-related options. Their credit rules, supported targets and geographies still require workload-specific verification.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can Firecrawl replace a browser automation tool?

It can cover scrape, search, crawl, map and interact workflows, but whether it replaces your automation depends on required navigation, authentication, persistent sessions and interaction complexity. Validate those flows against representative URLs.

Are these services legal to use for any website?

No service grants permission to collect any site’s data. Review the target’s terms, robots directives, privacy obligations, applicable law and contractual permissions before scraping.
