Langfuse Cloud Hobby lists 50,000 tracing-data units per month, while Helicone Hobby lists 10,000 requests. Those figures are not directly comparable: a single request can produce multiple trace records. SAVI SDK’s Local Mode can run without an account or network calls, but the available project information does not establish a free hosted-dashboard allowance. The right choice depends on whether you need local telemetry or a hosted service, and on how your traffic, history, and team fit each option.
Free options at a glance
| Option | Published free allowance | Other published limits or scope |
|---|---|---|
| SAVI SDK Local Mode | No hosted quota stated; Local Mode runs without an account or network calls | Local client-side telemetry; hosted backend and account features are separate |
| Langfuse Cloud Hobby | 50,000 units per month | 30 days of data access; two users; community support through GitHub |
| Helicone Hobby | 10,000 requests | 1 GB storage; one seat; one organization |
Langfuse’s allowance is measured in tracing data points, including traces, observations, and scores; it is not documented as a one-request-to-one-unit quota. Helicone lists requests. Without assumptions about how much telemetry each request generates, the headline counts cannot establish which hosted allowance will last longer. Langfuse lists its Hobby plan limits, and its pricing documentation defines usage units; Helicone’s pricing page lists its request allowance.
What each free option gives you
SAVI SDK: local telemetry, not a confirmed hosted free tier
The PyPI project describes SAVI as an open-source Python SDK client for a closed-source hosted backend. Local Mode runs without an account or network calls and logs what the wrapper computes on the client side, including tokens, latency, PII flags, and an LSH fingerprint. To estimate dollar cost, you supply pricing locally. Account-backed alerts and backend views are not available in local-only mode. SAVI’s PyPI project page describes Local Mode and the SDK.

Langfuse Cloud Hobby: a monthly telemetry-unit cap
Langfuse lists its Cloud Hobby plan as free, with no credit card required, and includes 50,000 units per month, 30 days of data access, two users, and community support through GitHub. The platform features are subject to plan limits. The unit count refers to tracing data points: traces, observations such as spans, events, and generations, and scores. A heavily instrumented request may therefore use multiple data points.
If you later need more capacity or history, Langfuse’s pricing documentation lists Core at $29 per month with 100,000 included units and 90 days of history, and Pro at $199 per month with 100,000 included units and three years of history. The documentation also lists additional-usage rates that decrease by volume tier. These are vendor-published prices checked in 2026, not guarantees of current pricing; confirm the live terms before budgeting. Langfuse also says its software is open source and can be self-hosted for free. That is a separate deployment path, not the same thing as the hosted Hobby plan.

Helicone Hobby: a request cap plus storage and seat limits
Helicone’s pricing page lists a free Hobby tier with 10,000 requests, 1 GB of storage, one seat, and one organization. Its page also presents usage-based pricing, so review the current calculator and terms rather than assuming every possible storage or other usage cost is covered by the free request allowance.

How to decide which allowance fits your workload
- Estimate requests and telemetry separately. For Helicone, estimate how many requests you expect to send. For Langfuse, estimate how many traces, observations, and scores your instrumentation will create across those requests. Do not convert between the two quotas using a guessed ratio.
- Check how much history you need. Langfuse Hobby lists 30 days of data access. Helicone lists 1 GB of storage, rather than a matching history duration in the cited plan details. SAVI Local Mode is local telemetry, not an account-backed hosted history or dashboard.
- Match the limits to your team. Langfuse Hobby lists two users; Helicone Hobby lists one seat and one organization. These limits can matter before an individual developer reaches the usage cap.
- Decide whether local-only operation is enough. SAVI Local Mode may suit a workflow that needs client-side logging without an account or network calls. If you need hosted views or account-backed alerts, verify SAVI’s hosted terms instead of assuming Local Mode includes them.
- Check instrumentation compatibility before adopting SAVI. Its project description says streaming calls are not instrumented by the wrappers. It also says LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, and gateway/router setups are not officially tested or supported. The page describes a possible underlying-client instrumentation path for LangChain but does not guarantee compatibility.
Bottom line by use case
- Choose Langfuse Cloud Hobby when its 50,000 monthly telemetry units, 30-day access window, and two-user limit fit your trace shape and team.
- Choose Helicone Hobby when a request-based allowance is easier to plan against and its 10,000-request, 1 GB, one-seat, one-organization limits suit your use.
- Consider SAVI Local Mode when you want the documented local SDK workflow without account or network calls; treat hosted pricing and quota as separate questions that remain to be verified.
