A report says Samsung may use AI to address lens flare on Galaxy phones, but the available information does not confirm a Samsung feature or say which models—or when—might get one. In the meantime, Samsung’s published advice is practical: clean the camera lens, adjust the angle or lighting, and use Gallery’s Photo Assist to edit glare in a photo you have already taken.
Why do lights streak or glare in Galaxy photos?
Samsung says bright scenes, night scenes with multiple light sources, and backlighting can create light streaks or glare in photos. Lens flare is an optical effect, so seeing it does not by itself mean the camera is defective. Samsung’s older Singapore support guidance likewise describes backlight flare, including flare associated with contamination, as a normal phenomenon; that is context, not a diagnosis of every individual phone.
Fingerprints, dust, and smudges on the camera lens can make flare more noticeable. Samsung also notes that using high zoom may make it more apparent. Samsung US camera guidance explains these contributing conditions.
How to reduce lens flare when taking a photo
- Clean the camera lens. Gently remove fingerprints, dust, or smudges before shooting. This can help with flare caused by lens contamination, but cannot eliminate flare from a bright light source.
- Change the angle or lighting. Reframe or move the phone so a strong light is not shining directly into the camera, when the scene allows. Samsung recommends adjusting the shooting angle or avoiding strong light sources.
- Check any camera cover or protector. Samsung Singapore warns that a camera protector or cover can affect image quality and may cause light distortion or focus problems. If you use one and notice a change, compare a photo with it removed if that is safe and practical; a protector is not a flare cure.

How to remove flare from a photo you already took
Samsung says Gallery’s Photo Assist can remove an unwanted light effect from an existing image. This edits the photo; it does not change the camera optics or establish that a hardware fix has been made.
- Open the photo in Gallery.
- Tap Photo Assist.
- Tap the unwanted light effect or draw around it.
- Choose Erase and review the edited image.
Samsung provides this editing workflow in its US support instructions and Singapore support instructions. Menu names and feature availability may vary by device and software version.

Has Samsung confirmed an AI fix for Galaxy lens flare?
No confirmation is established by the available information. An exact-title result attributes an AI-related lens-flare plan to a rumor reported by Android Headlines, but the result does not establish a Samsung announcement or describe a verifiable feature. Samsung’s support guidance about Photo Assist concerns editing images after capture; it is not evidence of a new camera feature that prevents flare.
The rumored plan’s technique, supported Galaxy models, availability, and timing are not established. Until Samsung provides details, there is no confirmed AI fix to assess or rely on.

When should you suspect a camera problem?
Flare that appears around bright or backlit scenes alone is not enough to conclude that the camera is faulty. First clean the lens, consider whether a cover or protector is affecting the image, and compare shots under different lighting and angles. Samsung’s guidance does not diagnose every device, so persistent image or focus problems across ordinary shooting conditions may warrant contacting Samsung support for device-specific help.
