The Samsung WD85N74FNOR/SA is a front-load washer-dryer combo with an 8.5kg wash capacity and a smaller 6kg drying capacity. It offers QuickDrive, AddWash, Hygiene Steam, Wi-Fi Smart Control and a maximum 1400rpm spin. Samsung’s Australian product page currently marks it “Not for sale,” so this is most useful as a reference for owners or people checking remaining or second-hand stock—not confirmation that it is currently available.
This is a specification-led assessment, not a hands-on test. Samsung’s hosted customer reviews offer a small, self-selected sample of owner comments, while CHOICE’s public model page does not reveal its detailed test results.

Samsung identifies the WD85N74FNOR/SA as a combination washer and dryer. Its wash and drying limits are different, which matters when planning a load: a load that fits the washer’s rated capacity may be too large to dry in one go.

Which features does it include?
The model combines several wash, garment-care and convenience features. Their presence is not the same as a measured result for every cycle or load.
- QuickDrive: Samsung says it can deliver a full clean in up to half the time with 20% less energy, compared with the previous Samsung WW6500K on a Cotton cycle at 40°C and half load. Samsung says the comparison is based on third-party testing to AS/NZS 2040.1:2005 and AS/NZS 2040:2:2005; cycle duration can vary with water supply and laundry weight or type. Treat this as a qualified manufacturer claim, not a guarantee for other programs or everyday use.
- AddWash: A separate door allows an item to be added after a cycle has started, subject to the cycle and operating conditions described in the manual.
- Hygiene Steam, BubbleSoak and BubbleWash: These are among the listed wash options.
- Air Wash: Also listed as a garment-care feature.
- Wi-Fi Smart Control, Smart Check and Q-rator: Listed connected and diagnostic features. The product page does not establish current app compatibility or service availability.

How much space does installation require?
Samsung lists the body dimensions as 600 × 850 × 600mm, and a gross depth of 736mm including the hose. For an initial fit check, use the hose-inclusive depth rather than assuming the appliance ends at the cabinet’s basic 600mm depth. Actual clearance needs also depend on the room, hose routing, door movement and connections.

Does the dryer work well?
The specifications establish a 6kg drying capacity, but the public material does not provide an independent drying score or a verified result for a typical household load. Samsung-hosted comments include both favorable reports about wash-and-dry operation and complaints about long drying cycles. Those comments are individual anecdotes, not a representative survey or a measure of how frequently a problem occurs.
CHOICE has a page for this exact model and lists drying performance and cycle duration among its test categories, but the detailed outcomes are behind membership. Its public page therefore does not support a claim that the dryer is either particularly good or poor.
For a practical comparison with another combo, check drying results and cycle times for loads and programs similar to your own. Also account for the 6kg dry limit: you may need to remove part of a full wash load before drying.

What do owner reviews and independent information show?
When accessed in 2026, Samsung’s Australian page displayed 3.9 out of 5 from 20 customer reviews, with 57% recommending the product. This is a small, self-selected sample hosted by the manufacturer, not an independent test or representative owner survey. The individual comments are dated 2019–2021, so they should not be read as recent reports.

Past reviewers mentioned convenience and the AddWash door positively. Complaints included drying-cycle duration, odor, lint around the door seal, spin noise, and drainage or filter issues. These comments can identify questions worth asking when inspecting a used unit, but they do not establish defect rates, expected service life or current service options.
CHOICE’s public page lists categories including washing and drying performance, noise and cycle duration. What energy and water figures are publicly displayed?
CHOICE’s page displays label values of 320kWh/year for washer energy, 229kWh/year for dryer energy, 73L for wash water and 48L for dryer water. The accessible page does not show publication dates for these entries. Treat them as the values displayed on that page, not as independently measured current household consumption or a forecast for your use.
For a meaningful comparison, check the same kind of figure for the other appliance and compare like-for-like programs, loads and capacities. Household results depend on how the machine is used.
