A Samsung washer’s beep is not automatically an error. It may signal startup, a button press, cycle completion, or an alarm. On some models you can turn off the completion chime and power-off sound, but button tones or other alerts may remain. The available controls—and which sounds they affect—depend on the model and market.
What do the beeps on my Samsung washer mean?
Samsung identifies several ordinary reasons a washer may make a sound: it has turned on, a control has been pressed or touched, a cycle has finished, or an alarm has activated. The sound alone does not tell you that the washer has a fault. If a beep accompanies an error code or an unusual operating problem, use the manual for your exact model to interpret it.

Samsung US describes power-on, cycle-completion, and button sounds. Its control-panel guidance says that on covered models the completion chime and power-off sound can be disabled while button sounds remain active. Other Samsung models group sounds differently.

Often, if your model has a supported sound or alarm control. Samsung’s US, UK, and India guidance describes settings that can switch off the cycle-completion melody and power-off sound. On applicable AddWash models, the setting may also silence the AddWash alarm. It does not necessarily disable button tones or every other alert.

For screen-based Bespoke Combo models, Samsung US says to check Settings > Sounds. Depending on the model, options may include Sound mode, Sound theme, or Volume. Samsung notes that sound adjustment is available only on select models.
How do I turn off the sound on my Samsung washer?
Check the user manual for the washer’s full model number and the labels or icons on its control panel. There is no single button combination that applies to every Samsung washer. Samsung’s regional support guides show different controls and sequences; use the one for your model and market rather than combining steps from different guides.
Control-panel buttons
On some models, sound is a secondary function of a panel button. Samsung US gives Super Speed, Alarm Off, and Extra Rinse as examples of controls that may provide sound functions. If the manual shows sound as a secondary function, hold the indicated button for three seconds. Some Australian models use a bell or crossed-speaker icon on one button or a marked pair; press or hold the marked control as the local manual directs.
AI Panel or Simple UX controls
Samsung’s instructions differ by region and panel. In India’s AI Panel guide, hold the indicated control for three seconds, turn the Navigation dial to Alarm, then select On or Off. Samsung UK describes an AI Panel route that begins by holding Options for five seconds before choosing Alarm settings with the dial. Its UK LED Panel instructions use Spin and Options held together for five seconds.
Samsung Australia’s Simple UX instructions use the hand icon: hold it, choose Alarm with the navigation dial, and select On or Off. These are examples from regional guides, not interchangeable instructions. Follow the sequence in the manual for your exact washer.
SmartThings
For some newer SmartThings-compatible washers, open the appliance card in the app and look for a sound switch or volume slider. Some models may also offer an End-of-cycle Alarm choice. App compatibility alone does not guarantee that a sound control is available for your washer.
Why does my Samsung washer still beep when it’s on mute?
First identify when the sound occurs. If it happens when you press or touch a control, it may be a button tone, which can remain active even after the completion chime is disabled. A beep may also be a separate notification rather than the sound setting you changed.

- Check the model manual for the correct button, icon, or menu sequence; a similar-looking panel may use a different control.
- If your manual does not explain how to toggle sounds, Samsung says the model may not support sound adjustment.
A search-result excerpt from a Samsung US Laundry Combo manual says Mute does not disable safety alert sounds. Because the manual page was not available to verify that detail, treat it only as a model-specific caveat—not a rule for all Samsung washers.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why do Samsung washer sound instructions differ by region?
Samsung’s support pages describe different products and interfaces. The US guide covers SmartThings, secondary panel functions, and Bespoke Combo menus; India describes an AI Panel and calls the control Alarm; the UK guide distinguishes AI Panel and LED Panel sequences; and the Australia guide is specifically for Australian products and includes bell or crossed-speaker icons and Simple UX controls. A sequence listed for one market may not match a washer sold in another.
Samsung’s India, UK, and Australia guidance says the selected sound setting persists after restart. Because controls and product availability vary, verify that behavior in the manual for your local model.
