Samsung SmartTag2 is for compatible Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets, not iPhones or Android phones generally. If you want a tracker you can set up with either Apple’s or Google’s finding network, Chipolo POP is a documented option—but it works with only one network at a time. Choose the network that matches the phone you plan to use.
Which Samsung SmartTag alternatives work with your phone?
Start with the phone ecosystem, not the tracker’s Bluetooth range. A tracker’s out-of-range finding depends on its associated network, so a product that works with Galaxy devices is not automatically useful with an iPhone or a non-Samsung Android phone.

The range figures above come from the manufacturers, not a head-to-head test under matching conditions. They do not establish which tracker finds a lost item more reliably in everyday use.
Best fit for an iPhone: Chipolo POP configured for Apple Find My
Chipolo says POP can be located in Apple Find My or Google Find Hub. For an iPhone, configure it for Apple Find My; do not expect it to appear on both networks at once. The stated minimum is iOS 14.5. Chipolo’s separate companion app has a higher minimum requirement of iOS 17, so check which setup or feature you need before relying on the app.

Apple AirTag is not presented here as an Android alternative. For an iPhone owner considering a tracker outside Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem, POP is the product in the available specifications that explicitly supports Apple Find My.
Best fit for Android: choose the network your phone can use
Non-Samsung Android: Chipolo POP with Google Find Hub
Chipolo lists POP for Android 9 or later with Google Play Services when configured for Find Hub. Find Hub also requires location services, Bluetooth, and internet or cellular service. Eligibility is limited by age and country, so confirm that Google Find Hub is available to your account and location. Chipolo’s companion app separately requires Android 12 or later.

Because POP supports one finding network at a time, choose Google Find Hub if you intend to use it with an eligible Android phone. Its Apple Find My setup is not an additional simultaneous tracking mode.
Samsung Galaxy: SmartTag2
Samsung specifies SmartTag2 for a Galaxy smartphone or tablet running Android 11.0 or later with at least 3 GB of free RAM. When the tag is beyond Bluetooth range, Samsung says it uses Galaxy Find Network. Finding through that network depends on opted-in Galaxy users being within range; Samsung does not guarantee a particular recovery result.

IP ratings describe different levels of resistance, but they do not make either tracker indestructible. The Bluetooth ranges are each manufacturer’s stated maximums and are not directly comparable measurements: Samsung qualifies its figure as unobstructed, while Chipolo’s cited specification does not give the same condition. Neither figure predicts out-of-range recovery, which depends on the relevant finding network and nearby participating devices.

- Use an iPhone: choose a tracker configured for Apple Find My, such as Chipolo POP.
- Use an Android phone outside Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem: check for Google Find Hub compatibility and country and age eligibility; Chipolo POP is listed for that network on Android 9 or later with Google Play Services.
- Use a compatible Samsung Galaxy device: SmartTag2 is designed for that ecosystem and uses Galaxy Find Network beyond Bluetooth range.
- Need to switch ecosystems later: POP’s one-network-at-a-time restriction means you must select the network for the phone you intend to use, rather than relying on simultaneous Apple and Google tracking.
These specifications do not establish which network has better real-world recovery performance or more participating devices. No independent comparative testing is available here to support a ranking.
