The Samsung S95H is the slightly better all-rounder in RTINGS’ direct comparison, especially for vivid HDR color and reflection control. The LG G6 is the stronger choice if you want Dolby Vision, better handling of low-quality video, or less black-level lift in a bright room. The right pick depends on what you watch and how your room is lit: Samsung’s matte screen cuts reflections more effectively, while LG better preserves dark-image contrast under ambient light.
How the S95H and G6 compare
| Decision point | Samsung S95H | LG G6 |
|---|---|---|
| Panel type | QD-OLED, according to RTINGS | WOLED, according to RTINGS |
| Overall comparison | RTINGS gives it a slight overall edge | Close competitor with meaningful strengths |
| HDR and color | Brighter, more vibrant color in RTINGS’ comparison; supports HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG | Bright highlights can last longer; LG’s US listing includes Dolby Vision |
| Bright-room picture | Matte anti-reflective coating reduces glare more effectively | Less black-level rise helps preserve the image in ambient light |
| Low-quality video | Not as strong as the G6 in RTINGS’ processing comparison | RTINGS favors its processing for low-quality content |
| Gaming features | TechRadar reports four HDMI 2.1 inputs, 4K at up to 165Hz, VRR, and ALLM | LG’s US listing states up to 165Hz, G-Sync, and FreeSync Premium |
| Mounting | TechRadar notes a frame-style design and two feet | LG’s US listing describes a flush-fit design and includes a wall mount |
These specifications and features can vary by size, region, input, and operating mode. The panel labels do not decide the winner by themselves; the practical differences in formats, room lighting, and source quality matter more.

Picture quality: color, highlights, and room lighting
Colorful HDR favors Samsung
RTINGS calls the S95H “a bit better” overall, crediting its brighter, more vibrant colors and a slightly more realistic HDR presentation. TechRadar’s measurements after an update, reported as of July 3, 2026, found 99.97% UHDA-P3 and 89.3% BT.2020 coverage for its S95H/S99H sample, versus 99.3% UHDA-P3 and 83% BT.2020 for its G6 sample. Those are that publication’s measurements of its tested samples, not manufacturer specifications or a guarantee for every unit.

The G6 can sustain bright highlights longer
RTINGS says the televisions have similar brightness overall, but the LG can sustain bright highlights longer. It also notes that scenes showing this difference are extremely rare, so it is unlikely to outweigh the S95H’s color advantage for most viewing. LG advertises Brightness Booster Ultra as delivering up to 3.9 times the brightness of a regular OLED; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent head-to-head measurement against Samsung.

Choose based on the kind of bright-room problem you have
Reflections and black-level lift are different issues. The S95H’s matte anti-reflective coating is better at suppressing visible reflections, which can help when windows or lamps reflect directly on the screen. The G6 has less black-level rise in a bright room, helping dark parts of the picture retain their appearance under ambient light. If reflections are the distraction, lean Samsung; if lifted blacks are the concern, lean LG.
TechRadar found broadly similar color accuracy and gamut in its tested modes, but noted that the G6 rendered some reds more strongly and its reviewer preferred S95H/S99H skin tones in particular scenes. Treat those as scene- and reviewer-specific observations, not a universal preference.
HDR formats: Dolby Vision is the deciding difference
LG’s US G6 product page lists Dolby Vision. The Samsung S95H is listed with HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG, and RTINGS’ comparison says it does not support Dolby Vision. If your streaming service, movie collection, or playback device relies on Dolby Vision, the G6 is the straightforward choice. The benefit depends on having Dolby Vision content and a compatible source; not every title uses the format.
Gaming: both offer high-refresh features
Both sets are positioned for high-refresh gaming. TechRadar reports that the S95H has four HDMI 2.1 inputs supporting 4K at 165Hz, VRR, HDR10+ gaming, and ALLM, and measured 9.5ms input lag at 60Hz. LG’s US product listing states up to 165Hz, NVIDIA G-Sync, and AMD FreeSync Premium for the G6.

Before buying, confirm that the exact regional model and size support the mode you want, and that your console or PC, selected HDMI input, settings, and cable support the desired signal. The 9.5ms figure is a TechRadar result at 60Hz; it should not be treated as a direct comparison with a result measured at a different refresh rate or by a different method.
Processing and the content you watch
RTINGS favors the G6 for processing low-quality content. If you regularly watch compressed streams, older broadcasts, or lower-resolution video, that advantage may matter more than Samsung’s HDR color edge. If most of your viewing is high-quality streaming or UHD material, the processing difference may be less important to your decision.
Design, mounting, audio, and warranty
LG’s US listing presents the G6 as a flush-fit, Gallery-style television and says the US package includes a flush wall mount. It also advertises a five-year panel warranty. Confirm the mount and warranty terms for the exact product code and country before ordering.

TechRadar describes the S95H’s silver FloatLayer frame as a design some buyers may find controversial, and says Samsung uses two plastic feet rather than a central pedestal. Its review describes the built-in sound as solid, while noting that a separate audio system can provide fuller sound. Neither mounting nor an optional soundbar is a universal requirement; check your room, included accessories, and audio needs.

Price and availability: compare the same size locally
Prices, promotions, screen sizes, and model suffixes vary by market and date. Samsung’s US 55-inch product page displayed $2,499.99 when accessed on October 8, 2026; that is a dated listing, not a current price guarantee. Samsung’s UK page reflects a different market, size, currency, and availability state. TechRadar’s reported launch prices are historical and should not be used as current quotes. A synchronized current LG price is not established here, so no reliable value verdict follows from those figures.
For a useful price comparison, check the same screen size and local model code at the same time, including whether a retailer’s offer is temporary. Samsung’s US and UK product pages are US 55-inch listing and UK listing.
Which TV should you buy?
Choose the Samsung S95H if
- You prioritize vivid HDR color and a slightly stronger overall result in RTINGS’ comparison.
- Screen reflections are a major problem in your viewing room.
- You want its reported four HDMI 2.1 inputs and high-refresh gaming features, after verifying the local model and your device setup.
Choose the LG G6 if
- Dolby Vision support matters for your movies or streaming setup.
- You watch a lot of low-quality or lower-resolution content and value the processing advantage RTINGS found.
- You want less black-level rise with ambient light, or the Gallery-style flush wall installation suits your room.
If those priorities are evenly matched, the S95H’s small edge in RTINGS’ overall comparison makes it the safer all-round pick. A substantial same-size price difference or a strong preference for Dolby Vision can reasonably tip the decision to the G6.
