Most Samsung refrigerators are leveled by turning the two adjustment legs beneath the front: clockwise raises a side, while counterclockwise lowers it. Check the refrigerator cabinet with a carpenter’s level, and consult the manual for your exact model because access covers and rear adjustment methods vary.
What you need before adjusting the refrigerator
Samsung recommends a carpenter’s level and a flat-head screwdriver for leveling. A Phillips screwdriver may be needed to remove a front leg cover on models that have one. Gather only the tools required by your model; no particular brand is necessary. See Samsung’s leveling instructions.

- Phillips screwdriver, if your model’s leg cover requires it
Before starting, check the user manual for your exact model. Empty the refrigerator and confirm it is standing on a flat, solid floor. Samsung warns that improper leveling can cause damage or physical injury. Its troubleshooting guidance also notes that adjustment details depend on the model.

- Locate the levelers. They are generally beneath the front of the refrigerator. On Side-by-Side and Four-Door models, opening both doors may make them easier to reach. Remove the front leg cover only if your model has one that must be removed; cover arrangements differ.
- Turn the leveler. Fit a flat-head screwdriver into the notch. Turn clockwise to raise that side and counterclockwise to lower it. Make small adjustments rather than turning one leg extensively at once.
- Check the cabinet. Place the carpenter’s level on the refrigerator cabinet and check it from left to right and from front to back. Adjust and recheck as needed.
- Replace the cover. If you removed a front leg cover, reinstall it after adjustment.
Use the cabinet as your reference, not the doors. Doors may have separate adjustment, so a door that looks uneven does not necessarily mean the cabinet itself needs to be tilted. Samsung explains the leveling process in its support guide.

What if the rear of the refrigerator needs adjustment?
Rear adjustment is model-specific. Samsung says that supplied level adjustment pads can be placed beneath the rear on applicable models to raise it. Do not assume that rear pads or another rear adjustment mechanism apply to your refrigerator; check its manual before changing the rear.
Samsung’s general leveling guidance describes leveling the refrigerator square and notes that slightly raising the front may help if you want the doors to stay open. Its troubleshooting guidance advises setting the front a little higher than the rear for safety. Because the wording and hardware guidance differ, do not apply a precise tilt to every model: follow the exact manual and verify the cabinet’s position with a level.

Why the model manual matters
Adjustment access, cover design, rear hardware, and front-to-back guidance can differ between Samsung models. A limit in one installation manual is not a limit for the entire product line: the Samsung-hosted Dacor 48-inch French Door Refrigerator DRF485300AP installation manual sets a maximum adjustment of 3/4 inch (20 mm) for that manual’s front and rear leveling legs and warns that exceeding it can damage the leveling components. Apply that limit only to the model family covered by that manual.
