Samsung has not confirmed a final Galaxy S27 Ultra design in the sources available as of October 3, 2026. A July report said the company was still weighing whether to change the Galaxy S27 family’s rear-camera layout, reportedly to make room for wireless-charging magnets. That remains an unconfirmed rumor—not a Samsung announcement.
What decision is Samsung reportedly weighing?
On July 14, 2026, GSMArena relayed a claim from an unnamed Korean source that Samsung was considering multiple rear-layout options for the Galaxy S27 family. The reported motivation was to accommodate magnets for wireless charging. The report also said Samsung could drop the redesign and keep a vertical camera layout.
The report did not identify a final choice or quote a Samsung decision-maker. GSMArena cautioned that the phone was early in development and the rumors could be inaccurate. The available reporting therefore establishes what was said about Samsung’s deliberations, not what the finished phone will look like.

What later camera leaks say—and why they conflict
The rear-layout question is separate from the unsettled camera specifications. On September 14, 2026, Android Central reported that tipster Ice Universe disputed a rumor of a 50MP 4x telephoto camera with a 1/1.9-inch sensor. The tipster instead claimed that the S27 Ultra would retain a 5x periscope camera with a 1/2.52-inch sensor.

Those are competing leak claims, not confirmed specifications. Neither establishes the final camera system, and the telephoto dispute does not confirm whether Samsung will rearrange the back of the phone.
What is confirmed about the Galaxy S26 Ultra?
Samsung Electronics’ 2026 First Quarter Interim Report lists the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a 6.9-inch display, dimensions of 163.6 × 78.1 × 7.9 mm, a weight of 214 g, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 or Exynos 2600 platform variants. These are official S26 Ultra details only; they do not confirm the S27’s size, design, processor, or charging features.

Should you buy the S26 Ultra or wait for the S27 Ultra?
The useful distinction is certainty: Samsung has published S26 Ultra specifications, while the S27 design and camera details described here remain leak-driven. If you need a phone now, compare the S26 Ultra’s confirmed features with your needs rather than treating any one S27 rumor as a settled specification. If you can wait, do so for a confirmed S27 announcement—not because the current reports establish a particular redesign.
