The Galaxy S26 is the better fit if you want a slightly larger screen and higher rated battery capacity; the Galaxy S25 is worth considering if it costs substantially less where you live or you prefer a smaller, lighter phone. Samsung lists the same core rear-camera hardware for both, so the S26 is not a camera-resolution upgrade on the published specifications alone.
Galaxy S26 vs. S25: the key differences
The figures below are Samsung specifications for the base models, not independent test results. Samsung’s UK comparison covers the family; Samsung Germany’s comparison, updated 25 June 2026, supplies the European model dimensions and weights.

What the spec differences mean in everyday use
Screen size and handling
The S26 adds 0.1 inch to the listed display diagonal, while keeping the same FHD+ resolution class and adaptive refresh rate ceiling. That is a modest size change, not a higher-resolution upgrade. The German dimensions also show a larger body and a small weight increase, so the larger screen is not free of a handling trade-off. If one-handed comfort matters, try the phones in person or compare their physical dimensions before choosing.

Battery capacity is not battery life
Samsung rates the S26 battery at 4,300mAh typical capacity and the S25 at 4,000mAh. This establishes a capacity difference, not how many hours either phone lasts. No comparable independent endurance test is established here, so do not treat the capacity figures as proof of a specific runtime gain.
Camera hardware
Samsung lists matching rear-camera resolutions and lens roles on the two base models, including 3× optical zoom from the telephoto camera. Those numbers do not show whether image processing or real-world photos differ. Without independent side-by-side testing, there is no basis here to promise better photos from the S26 or to declare the cameras identical in image quality.

Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy S26 if…
- You want the slightly larger display and are comfortable with a marginally larger, heavier device.
- The higher rated battery capacity is appealing, while understanding that it does not guarantee longer runtime.
- You want the newer generation and its price premium over the S25 is acceptable in your market.
Choose the Galaxy S25 if…
- Its current local price is meaningfully lower for the same storage, seller, and carrier status.
- You prefer a somewhat smaller and lighter phone.
- The published camera hardware meets your needs and you do not need a larger display.
There is no universal price gap that makes one model the automatic bargain. When comparing an older S25 listing, check whether it is new, refurbished, or used, and confirm storage, warranty, carrier lock, and return terms. A cheaper listing with different condition or coverage is not a like-for-like comparison.

Samsung UK says the S26 series was announced on 25 February 2026 and became available to buy from 11 March 2026; those dates describe the series launch and may not match retail timing in every country. Processor, connectivity, storage options, pricing, and stock can vary by country and seller. Samsung Germany identifies its European base-model codes as SM-S942B for S26 and SM-S931B for S25. Samsung US’s product page, by contrast, is a US-specific unlocked 256GB S26 listing and does not establish S25 pricing or availability elsewhere.
