For most buyers who want the stronger all-round phone, choose the Galaxy S25. It is smaller and lighter, has a faster processor, more RAM, a higher-resolution telephoto camera and Wi-Fi 7. Choose the Galaxy S25 FE if you want a larger display, a higher-capacity battery and 45W wired charging for less at US list prices.
The FE is not simply an S25 with a bigger screen: it makes meaningful hardware trade-offs. The right choice depends on whether compactness and performance matter more to you than screen size, battery capacity and price.

How different are the S25 and S25 FE in everyday use?
The S25 is the more premium, compact device, with a higher-tier chip, 12GB of RAM in US models and stronger telephoto hardware. The FE keeps several headline features—including a 120Hz display, a 50MP main camera, a dedicated 3x telephoto camera and long software support—but uses a different processor and has less RAM.
That distinction matters more for demanding games, heavy multitasking and camera zoom than for routine tasks such as messaging, navigation, browsing, streaming and casual photography. Both run Samsung’s Galaxy software and AI ecosystem, but the availability of individual AI features can depend on region, language, account, internet connection and changing terms.
Size and display: compact S25 or big-screen FE?
Galaxy S25: easier to handle
The S25’s 6.2-inch screen is the better fit if you want a phone that is easier to hold, use one-handed and slip into a pocket. Both screens have a resolution of 2340 × 1080, so that resolution is spread across a smaller panel on the S25. Samsung specifies adaptive 1–120Hz refresh for the S25.

The FE’s 6.7-inch screen gives video, games, maps and reading more space, and it may suit people who find a standard-size phone cramped. Samsung lists the FE display as supporting up to 120Hz; that wording does not establish the same adaptive 1–120Hz behavior specified for the S25.

- MOVE IT. REMOVE IT. IMPROVE IT: Generative Edit² on Galaxy S25 FE lets you move, resize and erase distracting elements in your shot. Galaxy AI intuitively recreates every detail so each shot looks exactly the way you envisioned.³
- MORE POWER. LESS PLUGGING IN⁵: Busy day? No worries. Galaxy S25 FE is built with a powerful 4,900mAh battery that’s ready to go the distance⁴. And when you need a top off, Super Fast Charging 2.0⁵ gets you back in action.
The size difference is substantial, not cosmetic: the FE is 14.4mm taller, 6.1mm wider and 28g heavier. That can affect one-handed typing and long sessions of holding the phone. For screen area, the FE is the clear choice; for handling and pixel density, the S25 has the edge.
Performance: the S25 has more headroom
The US S25 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy with 12GB of RAM, while the FE uses Samsung’s Exynos 2400 with 8GB. On specifications, the S25 has the stronger performance ceiling and more memory for keeping demanding apps and games active. It is the safer pick for intensive 3D gaming, frequent app switching and buyers who want more processing headroom as software evolves.
The FE should be adequate for everyday apps, streaming, photography, productivity and casual-to-moderate gaming. Samsung says the FE’s vapor chamber is 14% larger, but that design claim does not establish that it matches the S25’s performance or sustained gaming behavior. No benchmark or throttling result follows from the specifications alone, and actual performance can vary with software, workload and regional configuration.

Where the hardware is similar
Both phones list a 50MP stabilized main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide and a 12MP autofocus front camera. Samsung lists up to 8K video recording at 30fps and 4K at 60fps for both. Those matching headline specifications do not prove that photos or video look identical: processing and results in low light, motion, skin tones and stabilization need direct comparison.

Where the S25 pulls ahead
The S25 has a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom; the FE has an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Both therefore have a dedicated telephoto lens, but the S25 has the higher-resolution zoom hardware. It is the more compelling specification-led choice for zoom photography. The resolution difference alone does not establish how much better finished pictures look.
For ordinary daylight shots with the main camera, the matching 50MP resolution may matter less than scene and image processing. Choose based on the kind of photos you take: zoom and difficult conditions deserve more weight than a megapixel count alone.
Battery and charging: capacity is not a runtime test
The FE has a 4,900mAh rated battery, compared with 4,000mAh in the S25. That is 22.5% more rated capacity, but it does not prove 22.5% longer use—or longer runtime at all. The FE also drives a larger screen; brightness, signal strength, gaming, camera use, refresh behavior and background features affect endurance. Without comparable battery testing, neither phone can be declared the real-world runtime winner from capacity alone.

Both accessories are sold separately, and a lower-rated charger will not deliver the stated maximum. The available cited comparison materials do not establish an S25 charging rate for this comparison, so no speed ranking is claimed.

Software support and connectivity
Samsung states seven years of OS and security updates for the S25 series. Its FE materials describe up to seven OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. Those commitments are broadly comparable, but the wording does not specify an exact support end date here; check Samsung’s regional policy for the model you are buying.
The S25 supports Wi-Fi 7, while the FE is listed with Wi-Fi 6E. Wi-Fi 7 is a reason to favor the S25 if you have a compatible router and want the newer standard; otherwise it may not change daily use. Both support 5G, but cellular bands and compatibility can vary by carrier and regional model.
Galaxy AI features also are not necessarily identical in availability everywhere or guaranteed to remain under the same terms. Samsung’s S25 launch included a six-month Gemini Advanced and 2TB cloud-storage offer; that was a time-limited offer, not a permanent feature of owning the phone. Samsung’s S25 launch announcement.
Price and value: compare the same storage and the live offer
Samsung’s published US MSRP lists the FE at $649.99 for 128GB and $709.99 for 256GB. Its published S25 MSRP is $799.99 for 128GB and $859.99 for 256GB. At matching storage, the FE launched at $150 less. These are list prices, not a claim about current checkout prices.
| Storage | Galaxy S25 MSRP | Galaxy S25 FE MSRP | FE difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 128GB | $799.99 | $649.99 | $150 less |
| 256GB | $859.99 | $709.99 | $150 less |
Samsung’s US price files document the listed MSRPs for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 FE.
For an actual purchase, compare the unlocked price at the same storage capacity and account for trade-in credits, carrier requirements and financing terms separately. A promotion can narrow or erase the FE’s list-price advantage. As an editorial rule of thumb, if the S25 costs no more than about $100–$150 extra at the same storage after straightforward discounts, its performance, size, camera and connectivity advantages make it the better buy for many people. That threshold is a buying judgment, not a Samsung claim. Check the final price and offer terms at Samsung’s S25 FE product page and the relevant purchase page before ordering.

- You want a 6.7-inch screen without paying for a more expensive large flagship.
- You value a higher battery capacity and Samsung’s stated 45W wired-charging capability.
- Your phone use is mostly everyday apps, streaming, navigation, photography and ordinary productivity.

What to check before you buy
- Model and region: Confirm the processor, memory, storage, charging details and cellular bands for the exact regional model and carrier.
- Price basis: Compare unlocked-to-unlocked or carrier-to-carrier prices; account for plan activation, trade-in conditions and financing separately.
- Storage: Do not compare a 128GB phone with a 256GB phone as if they were equivalent.
- Charging kit: If you want the FE’s maximum stated wired charging rate, check that you have a compatible 45W adapter and 5A cable.
- Software and AI: Check current regional availability and terms for features you specifically expect to use.
