The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is the S24 family’s middle ground: it pairs a sharp, large 6.7-inch QHD+ display with a flagship feature set and long software support, without the Ultra’s more elaborate camera hardware. It is a strong fit if screen size and resolution matter more than long-range zoom. Its size, regional hardware differences and value at today’s local price deserve a closer look before buying.

What the Galaxy S24+ offers

Samsung announced the Galaxy S24 family on January 17, 2024. The S24+ launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1, and its core appeal is a large high-resolution screen in a less camera-focused package than the Ultra. Its headline specifications are below; model availability can vary by market.

Feature Galaxy S24+
Display 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, adaptive 1–120Hz; Samsung’s measurement is 6.5 inches when rounded corners are included.
Memory and storage 12GB RAM; 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 configurations listed by GSMArena. Availability varies by market.
Rear cameras 50MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultra-wide, and 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom.
Front camera 12MP.
Battery 4,900mAh typical capacity; Samsung lists 4,755mAh as rated minimum capacity.
Weight About 196g for the Sub6 variant; Samsung says weight can vary by market.
Water and dust resistance IP68 under Samsung’s specified freshwater laboratory test.
Wireless connectivity Samsung lists Wi-Fi 6E in its global announcement and Wi-Fi 7 in US newsroom materials; check the local model’s specifications.

Samsung’s global announcement lists 5G, but the phone’s supported bands and practical 5G availability depend on the market, model and carrier. Check the exact model number against your provider’s compatibility information rather than assuming a review unit’s network support applies to every region.

How good is the S24+ display?

The 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel is the clearest reason to choose the Plus over the standard S24. It combines more screen area with higher resolution than the S24’s 6.2-inch FHD+ display, while adaptive refresh ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz. That makes the Plus a more natural choice for people who read, watch video or multitask on their phones and prefer a spacious screen.

  • Rear Camera: 50MP, f/1.8 (wide) + + 12MP, f/2.2 (ultrawide) + 8MP, f/2.4 (telephoto), 3x Optical Zoom, Front Camera: 10MP, f/2.4

  • US Model. Compatible with Most GSM and CDMA Carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, MetroPCS, etc. Will Also work with CDMA Carriers Such as Verizon, Straight Talk.

The trade-off is physical: this is a large handset, and its roughly 196g Sub6 weight may feel substantial in one-handed use or a pocket. Samsung notes that weight varies by market. If comfortable handling matters more than display size, compare the standard S24 in person before choosing.

Camera review: capable set, limited long-range zoom

The rear system covers common shooting needs with a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP telephoto offering 3x optical zoom. The front camera is 12MP. This gives the S24+ a useful mix of standard, wide-angle and closer framing, but it is not the S24 family’s best option for distant subjects.

GSMArena’s review of an Exynos S24+ specifically noted that the zoom camera could be better. That is the reviewer’s assessment of its tested model, not a claim that every owner will get the same results. The S24 Ultra has more ambitious zoom hardware, including a 5x periscope camera and a 200MP main camera in TechRadar’s family comparison. If photographing distant subjects is a priority, compare the Ultra’s camera system directly before buying.

Performance and regional model differences

The processor is not the same in every S24+. GSMArena identifies Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 models in the US, Canada and China, and Exynos 2400 models internationally; its reviewed Plus was an Exynos model. Because of this, results from one regional review should not be treated as a universal benchmark for all S24+ variants.

Before purchase, confirm the model number, chipset, storage configuration, network bands and Wi-Fi specification for the unit sold in your market. Those details matter if you are comparing performance reports, importing a handset or checking carrier compatibility.

Battery and charging: what Samsung’s figures mean

Samsung lists a 4,900mAh typical battery capacity and a 4,755mAh rated minimum. Actual battery life depends on factors such as network conditions, settings and how the phone is used; the capacity figure alone does not establish how long a particular person’s charge will last.

SAMSUNG Galaxy S23 5G, US Version, 128GB, Phantom Black - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.

The phone supports wired charging up to 45W. Samsung says a 45W adapter and 5A USB-C cable can charge the phone to up to 65% in around 30 minutes under its internal laboratory conditions, with services, features and the screen off. This is not a guaranteed everyday charging time. The adapter and cable are sold separately, and Samsung recommends its 45W adapter and a 5A cable.

Software support and Galaxy AI

Samsung committed to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the S24 series. The company notes that update timing and availability can vary by device model and market. As a dated, model-specific example, Samsung’s SM-S926B update log lists Android 16 and a 2026-09-05 security patch in a release dated 2026-09-30. That log describes that model’s update record; it does not guarantee the same rollout status for every S24+ or carrier.

Samsung announced Galaxy AI features for the phone including Live Translate, Note Assist, Chat Assist and Circle to Search. These are software features, so availability and behavior can depend on software versions and settings; their usefulness will also depend on how you use your phone.

Rank #4
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 5G, 256GB, Titanium Violet - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.

Durability: IP68 is a test rating, not waterproofing

Samsung specifies IP68 resistance based on submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. It advises against beach or pool use, and resistance can diminish through wear. Treat the rating as limited protection under stated test conditions, not permission to deliberately expose the phone to water.

GSMArena lists an aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the reviewed device. Those materials do not change Samsung’s water-use limitations.

Galaxy S24 vs S24+ vs S24 Ultra

Model Best fit Main distinction
Galaxy S24 Buyers who want a smaller phone. Samsung lists a 6.2-inch FHD+ display, compared with the Plus’s 6.7-inch QHD+ panel.
Galaxy S24+ Buyers who want a large, higher-resolution screen without prioritizing the Ultra’s camera hardware. It offers QHD+ resolution and a 3x optical telephoto camera.
Galaxy S24 Ultra Buyers who want more advanced camera hardware and longer optical zoom reach. TechRadar’s family comparison lists a 200MP main camera and 5x periscope hardware; it is the more camera-focused option.

Price is another deciding factor, but launch pricing is not a reliable guide to what a phone costs now. TechRadar listed the S24+ base configuration at $999, £999 and AU$1,699 in its 2024-era launch overview; these are historical launch figures, not current local prices. Compare current offers for the same storage, condition and regional model.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Large, sharp QHD+ display with adaptive 1–120Hz refresh, a clear display upgrade over the standard S24’s FHD+ panel.
  • Well-rounded rear camera selection for everyday use, including a 3x optical telephoto camera.
  • 4,900mAh typical battery capacity and support for wired charging up to 45W.
  • Samsung’s commitment to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.
  • Announced Galaxy AI features include translation, writing assistance and Circle to Search.

Cons

  • The large screen comes in a large handset that may not suit one-handed use.
  • The 10MP telephoto camera’s 3x optical reach is less flexible for distant subjects than the Ultra’s longer-zoom hardware.
  • Chipset and some connectivity details vary by region, so reviews and compatibility claims may not apply to every model.
  • Reaching Samsung’s stated fast-charging conditions requires a separately sold adapter and suitable 5A cable.
  • Whether it is good value depends on the current local price and the gap to the S24 and S24 Ultra.

Who should buy the Galaxy S24+?

Choose the S24+ if you want a large, high-resolution screen, flagship-class specifications and long stated software support, and you do not need the Ultra’s longer zoom reach. Consider the standard S24 if a smaller phone is more important than QHD+ resolution. Compare the Ultra if camera reach is central to your decision.

When checking a listing, verify the exact regional model, storage, new or refurbished condition, warranty and included accessories. Do not assume a charger or cable is bundled, or that a device from another market will support your carrier’s bands.
