Samsung Galaxy J7 Star: At First Glance
In addition to its long list of Galaxy J7 models, Samsung released this Galaxy J7 Star smartphone in July 2018. This smartphone is an obvious upgrade from the J7 Crown model and some other J7 models.
Looking at its specs, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star has a better CPU and internal storage. This smartphone has impressive features that make it seem a bit luxurious.
Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star’s sleek design will make you think it belongs to the high-end line of smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Star: Design, Dimension, and Weight
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Star is an attractive silver-colored smartphone. It has a sleek design that makes it stand out from many budget smartphones.

However, this smartphone doesn’t follow the slim-bezel trend. Its top and bottom bezels are chunky.
Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star itself is a big smartphone. It measures 153.2 x 76.2 x 8.6 mm and weighs 181 g.
Going by today’s smartphone build standards, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star doesn’t feel very handy like most smartphones. It doesn’t have the fancy 18:9 aspect ratio that makes modern smartphones easier to hold.

Just like most budget smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star has a plastic body build. This plastic body build looks like metal and it feels pleasant to touch.
At the front of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star, you have a 13-megapixel front camera, a headphone, and a light sensor all positioned above the smartphone’s display.
Meanwhile, below the display, you get a back button, a recent app button, and a physical home button. At the bottom of the device, there’s a headphone jack, a micro USB port for charging, and a microphone.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Star: Display Features
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Star features a 5.5-inch TFT display. This display has an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 at 267 dpi.
It is very obvious that this display is one of the strongest points of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star. Images on the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star are crisp and viewing angles are also great.
Generally, this TFT display makes activities carried out on the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star more interesting. Watching movies, playing games, or browsing on the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star is very pleasant.
Moreover, this display is multitouch capable. It is very sensitive and responsive to the touch.
Hence, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star scores a seven in this review for its good display quality.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Star: Camera Features
Samsung equipped the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star with a 13-megapixel front and rear camera. These cameras come with enough features you will need to take regular pictures.
Furthermore, the quality of the pictures taken with this smartphone’s rear camera is not so bad. However, pictures taken in low-light environments are not so great.
Likewise, the front camera offers good picture quality for a budget smartphone. However, it also doesn’t perform very well in low-light environments.

On a battery test, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star lasted up to 20 hours. Meanwhile, it can last for as long as 27 days on standby mode.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Star did not disappoint in any way when it comes to sensors. It comes with a good variety of sensors.
To offer you some details, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star comes with an accelerometer that measures the tilting motion and orientation of the phone. This makes it easy for the phone to change orientation as you flip it from vertical to horizontal – and vice versa.
It also comes with a proximity sensor that detects how close the smartphone is to an external object like your ear. This dims the phone’s display when you are making a phone call to save battery.
In addition to these, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Star also features an ambient light sensor and a geomagnetic sensor. The ambient light sensor detects light in the environment and automatically adjusts the phone’s brightness – saving its battery.
