Galaxy Buds On are Samsung’s first clip-style wireless earbuds: they rest around the outer ear rather than entering the ear canal, leaving you more aware of nearby sounds. Samsung has confirmed a South Korea launch on October 27, 2026, for 299,000 won; it has not announced release dates or prices for other markets.
What the Galaxy Buds On clip-on design is
Each earbud sits around the outside of the ear in an ear-cuff-like shape, leaving the ear canal open. Samsung describes this as an open-ear design and positions it for situations such as outdoor running, when hearing some of your surroundings may be useful. In-ear Galaxy Buds remain the option Samsung associates with more immersive listening. Samsung’s announcement confirms the design; it does not classify the Buds On as bone-conduction headphones.
The open fit has a trade-off: sound can escape. Samsung warns that leakage varies with playback volume, ear shape and surrounding noise, and that results depend on fit and use. Audio Leakage Reduction is a feature, not a guarantee of privacy or silent listening. In a quiet room, people nearby may hear your audio, particularly at higher volume.
How Samsung says the earbuds fit and stay in place
Samsung says it used data from different ear shapes and simulations to optimize the placement of the speakers and batteries. It also widened the contact area to spread pressure and tuned the band’s elasticity to help the earbuds stay put during larger movements. These are Samsung’s design claims, not independent findings about comfort or retention across different ears.

Samsung MX Division CX Office head Jeong-hyun Kim described the product in Samsung’s English rendering of his Korean statement as “a form factor designed for consumers’ diverse everyday usage situations” intended to offer comfortable listening while keeping users naturally connected to their surroundings.
Audio, controls and voice features
Listening and controls
- Speakers: Samsung lists TwinBoost speakers for low frequencies and automatic volume adjustment based on the surroundings.
- Touch controls: Light touches on the back of the earbuds control music and calls.
- Head gestures: Samsung says users can answer or end calls, dismiss alarms and read message notifications with head movements.
- Audio hardware: Samsung specifies a Qualcomm Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform and a Class-D amplifier.
Calls and Galaxy features
For calls, Samsung lists Intelligent Clear Call, three microphones, a Voice Pickup Unit Sensor and machine-learning-based voice separation and noise reduction. These are announced capabilities rather than independently measured call-quality results.

Samsung also lists Gemini Live access, Galaxy AI features and Quick Voice Memo. Quick Voice Memo requires a Galaxy AI-supported device, Samsung Voice Recorder and Bixby apps, and setting the long-press action in settings.
Connecting to Galaxy devices
Samsung says opening the charging case makes the earbuds connect easily to a Galaxy phone or tablet. Some sound and EQ controls are available through device settings and the Quick Panel without installing Galaxy Wearable.

Battery life: Samsung’s stated figure
Samsung specifies up to 9.5 hours of continuous music playback on one charge. That is the company’s stated maximum; no independent battery test is available here, and the announcement does not establish that every user or listening setup will reach it.

Samsung says other global markets will follow sequentially but has not provided dates. The South Korean price is not an official price for the United States, United Kingdom, Australia or another market; no local prices were announced. Android Central and TechRadar likewise reported South Korea as the only confirmed market at announcement.

The design is most relevant if you want earbuds that leave the ear canal open and prefer some awareness of nearby sounds. It is less suitable if your priority is isolating audio, keeping sound private in quiet spaces or choosing based on proven comfort, call performance or runtime: those outcomes have not been independently tested for the Galaxy Buds On.

Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, Huawei FreeClip and Motorola Moto Buds Loop are other products with clip-on or open-ear form factors. Their names identify alternatives, not a performance ranking; a meaningful choice depends on fit, stability, awareness, sound leakage, calls, device compatibility, tested battery life and availability in your market. SamMobile’s earlier coverage discussed the design before Samsung’s official announcement, so Samsung’s later confirmed details take precedence.
Why Samsung is entering the clip-on category
Android Central reported Omdia figures for the year to the second quarter of 2026: open-ear earbud sales grew 12%, clip-on designs accounted for 61% of open-ear sales, and the overall wireless-earbud market declined 2%. Those statistics are attributed to Omdia as reported by Android Central; the underlying Omdia report was not independently reviewed.
