The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is the better fit if you want a larger, high-refresh-rate display and expandable storage; the iPhone 16 is the smaller option, offers more listed internal-storage choices, and runs iOS. There is no universal winner: compare the exact local price, configuration, and condition before choosing.

Which phone has the better screen and handling?
The A35 is the larger-screen choice: Samsung UK lists a 6.6-inch display measured as a full rectangle, or 6.4 inches accounting for rounded corners. It is a 1080 × 2340 FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with a refresh rate up to 120Hz. AT&T lists the iPhone 16 at 6.1 inches with an OLED display. The published figures do not establish a direct brightness or image-quality winner.
The size difference matters when carrying or using a phone one-handed. Samsung lists the A35 at 209g and 161.7 × 78.0 × 8.2mm. AT&T gives the iPhone’s dimensions as 5.81 × 2.82 × 0.31 inches but does not state its weight on the cited listing. The units differ, so compare them with care when judging fit or handling.

How do the cameras differ?
Samsung lists three rear camera resolutions on the A35: 50MP, 8MP and 5MP, with OIS listed. Its front camera is 13MP, and the rear camera can record UHD 4K at 30fps. AT&T describes the iPhone 16’s rear system as a 48MP Fusion main camera, a 12MP 2x telephoto option and a 12MP ultrawide.
Those specifications describe camera roles, not a photo-quality verdict. Megapixel totals do not reveal performance in low light, motion, portrait shots or video. If those uses matter, look for examples taken with the exact models and conditions you care about rather than choosing by resolution alone.

How much storage do you get?
The cited Samsung UK A35 listing pairs 6GB of memory with 128GB of built-in storage and supports microSD cards up to 1TB. On this configuration, the microSD card shares a hybrid SIM slot arrangement, so check the slot setup before buying a card or planning to use two SIMs. Samsung’s regional listing may not represent every market version.

What can the battery figures tell you?
Samsung lists a typical battery capacity of 5,000mAh for the A35; the battery is non-removable. AT&T lists up to 22 hours of video playback for the iPhone 16. Capacity and a playback estimate are not equivalent measurements, and neither figure is a head-to-head runtime test. They cannot establish which phone lasts longer for your mix of calls, streaming, navigation and gaming.
What are the price differences and availability?
AT&T’s US listing gives the iPhone 16 a starting retail price of $829.99, subject to financing and other terms, and says the Galaxy A35 5G is no longer available through AT&T. That does not mean the A35 is unavailable from other sellers or in other countries, and AT&T’s price is not a universal iPhone price.

For a meaningful price comparison, check offers in your country for the same storage tier, phone condition, seller, network-lock status and payment method. Promotions, used stock and refurbished stock can change the amount you actually pay; compare the full price and any financing conditions rather than relying on a starting figure alone.

Which should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy A35 5G if
- You prefer the larger display and a refresh rate listed up to 120Hz.
- You want the option to expand storage with a microSD card, subject to the configuration’s hybrid SIM slot.
- You prefer Android, or the exact A35 configuration is available locally at a price that suits you.
Choose the iPhone 16 if
- You want the smaller phone in this comparison and prefer iOS.
- You want an iPhone configuration with up to 512GB of listed internal storage.
- You value the camera roles described in the listing, including a telephoto option and ultrawide camera.
Software support can also matter over the time you expect to keep a phone. Samsung UK lists the A35 security-update period as valid until 31 March 2028. That date applies to the cited UK listing; it is not a comparison of total software-support periods for the two phones.
