There is no single winner between Samsung Galaxy A and Motorola Moto G: the right buy depends on the exact models, current price, and how long you plan to keep the phone. For a U.S. buyer weighing long-term software support, Samsung’s announced 2025 Galaxy A56 5G, A36 5G, and A26 5G stand out because Samsung promised up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates for that announced series. Motorola’s moto g (2025) had the lower U.S. launch MSRP. Those are launch-era facts, not a current price ranking or a verdict on camera, speed, or battery life.
Which should you buy?
- Choose a Galaxy A model if: you value the stated software-support commitment and have confirmed the exact model’s current price, remaining support, and regional configuration.
- Consider the moto g (2025) if: it is substantially cheaper than the Galaxy A model you are comparing and its specific features and carrier compatibility suit you.
- Compare the moto g power (2025) with a Galaxy A model if: you want Motorola’s larger-screen option. Its name and battery-focused positioning do not establish longer real-world battery life.
These recommendations are conditional. The families include multiple phones, and the available official announcements do not establish a universal winner or independent performance results.
Which models and launch prices are comparable?
The table gives U.S. launch prices announced for these specific 2025 models. They are not October 2026 street prices or current offers; check a live listing before buying and note whether its price depends on a carrier plan, trade-in, or promotion.

|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy A56 5G | Starting at $499.99 (Samsung, U.S. launch announcement) | Samsung.com and retailers; Samsung named an Amazon.com-exclusive color. |
| Samsung Galaxy A36 5G | Starting at $399.99 (Samsung, U.S. launch announcement) | Not stated in the cited announcement details here. |
| Samsung Galaxy A26 5G | Starting at $299.99 (Samsung, U.S. launch announcement) | Not stated in the cited announcement details here. |
| Motorola moto g (2025) | $199.99 MSRP (Motorola, U.S. launch announcement) | Unlocked online sales through Motorola.com, Amazon.com, and BestBuy.com were announced for January 30, 2025. |
| Motorola moto g power (2025) | $299.99 MSRP (Motorola, U.S. launch announcement) | Unlocked online sales through Motorola.com, Amazon.com, and BestBuy.com were announced for February 6, 2025. |
The launch figures show how the models were positioned at announcement, not which one is the better deal now. Prices, promotions, stock, and exact configurations can change, and the named launch channels do not guarantee present availability.

How does software support compare?
Samsung Galaxy A
Samsung said the announced Galaxy A series would receive up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates. “Up to” matters: check the commitment for the exact model and when its support period began before assuming how many updates remain.
Motorola Moto G
The cited Motorola announcement and support information do not establish a complete support-duration comparison for the moto g (2025) or moto g power (2025). Before choosing one for long-term use, look up the exact device on Motorola’s device-specific support page and confirm its update schedule. Do not infer a duration for one Moto G from another model.
What do the displays and other published specifications tell you?
Specifications can narrow a comparison, but they cannot by themselves prove which phone has the better-looking screen or lasts longer in everyday use.

What is not established about cameras, speed, and battery life?
The official launch announcements are not comparative tests. They do not establish which named phone takes better photos, runs faster, or lasts longer on a charge. Battery capacity alone is not an endurance result, and the moto g power name is not proof of longer battery life. For those priorities, compare independent tests and camera samples for the exact models and configurations you are considering.

- Set the comparison: choose the exact Galaxy A and Moto G models, not just the brand families, and confirm both are available in your country.
- Check the live total price: record the date and whether the offer requires a plan, trade-in, or promotion. Treat the launch prices above only as historical reference points.
- Confirm remaining updates: check the model-specific support schedule from Samsung or Motorola rather than applying a family-wide assumption.
- Match the configuration: verify the regional SKU, storage capacity, unlocked status, and compatibility with your carrier’s bands and service.
- Research the features you care about: use independent camera, performance, display, and battery testing for the same model rather than relying on a spec sheet to answer real-world questions.
Samsung and Motorola’s launch announcements describe U.S. pricing and channels at launch; they do not guarantee current stock, unlocked status for every listing, or compatibility with every carrier.
