There is not yet a reliable, direct Exynos 2700 versus Snapdragon 8 Elite comparison to declare a winner. The Exynos 2700 details in current reporting are not confirmed retail-phone specifications, and the available Galaxy S26 tests compare a different Exynos chip with a newer Snapdragon generation. If you are choosing a Galaxy phone, compare the exact phone, market version, sustained performance, battery life, and price—not just the chipset name.
First, check that the chip names match the comparison
“Snapdragon 8 Elite” and “Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5” are separate Qualcomm platform listings. Samsung identifies the Galaxy S26 Ultra platform as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy; that is not the Snapdragon 8 Elite named in this title. The “for Galaxy” label denotes a Galaxy-customized platform, so results from one version should not be treated as results for every Snapdragon phone.
Qualcomm’s platform table lists maximum CPU speeds of 4.47 GHz for Snapdragon 8 Elite and 4.74 GHz for Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Those are platform-table maximums, not assurances of sustained speed in a particular phone; Qualcomm notes that maximum CPU speed varies and directs buyers to OEM specifications. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8-series platform table lists the platforms separately.

What is known about Exynos 2700—and what is not
An October 3, 2026 report from Android Central says overseas reporting describes Exynos 2700 as entering mass production and as a possible chip for Galaxy S27 models. It also says allocation for the Ultra model remained undecided. Those are reports, not Samsung-confirmed retail specifications. A final CPU or GPU configuration, which markets will receive the chip, a shipping date, and buyer prices are not established by the cited information. Rumors about heat handling and performance should be treated with the same caution. Android Central’s October 3 report describes the claims and their uncertainty.

There is no cited independent, controlled test of Exynos 2700 against Snapdragon 8 Elite in matched Galaxy phones. Early benchmark claims reported in August concern Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, not Snapdragon 8 Elite, and are attributed to industry sources. They cannot establish how Exynos 2700 performs against the chip in this comparison. Android Central’s report on those early claims identifies the different Snapdragon generation.
Use existing Galaxy results as context, not as a proxy for Exynos 2700
A March 2026 Tom’s Guide comparison tested Galaxy S26 phones with Geekbench 6.6 and 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Unlimited. It compared Exynos 2600 with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy—not Exynos 2700 with Snapdragon 8 Elite. The reported scores illustrate why results depend on the phone model and workload:

These are Tom’s Guide’s reported results for those phones and tests; the ordering differs between models and workloads. They do not predict Exynos 2700 performance. The comparison is useful for showing why a single score—or results from one phone configuration—cannot settle a broader chipset question. What to compare when both chips are in released Galaxy phones
Exact phone, platform, and market version
Write down the complete chip name, including the generation and any “for Galaxy” designation, then identify whether the phone is the base, Plus, or Ultra model. Match RAM and storage where possible. Samsung says Galaxy specifications may vary by market, so check the specific regional model rather than assuming a result from another country applies to yours. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 announcement notes that specifications may vary by market.

CPU performance under short and sustained workloads
Compare single-core and multi-core results from the same benchmark version, but do not stop at a brief run. Repeated workloads can reveal whether a phone maintains performance after it heats up. Use tests from the same phone tier and regional configuration; a result from an Ultra model is not automatically representative of a base model.
Graphics, gaming, and heat
For gaming or graphics-heavy work, look at a named graphics benchmark alongside frame stability over time. A high initial score does not show whether frame rates fall during a longer session or whether the phone becomes uncomfortable to hold. Cooling is part of the result: phone design can affect how a chipset behaves under load.

Efficiency and battery use
Compare battery use and temperature during the same task, with comparable brightness, network conditions, software, and test duration. A peak performance score alone does not reveal how much energy the phone used to achieve it or how much capacity remains after a typical day.

On-device AI versus cloud features
When AI matters, distinguish work performed on the phone’s neural processing unit (NPU) from features that rely on cloud services. Compare the same task, app or system feature, and software version. A headline NPU figure does not by itself establish that one phone will complete a particular AI task faster or more privately.

Whole-phone value
Choose between actual phones, not abstract chip names. Consider the price and availability in your region alongside battery, camera, display, software support, and the performance you need. A chipset comparison cannot answer whether one Galaxy phone is the better purchase overall.

The Galaxy S25 is a real Snapdragon reference, not an Exynos 2700 match: Samsung says the S25 series uses Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. Samsung reported generational improvements of 40% in NPU, 37% in CPU, and 30% in GPU for that platform, compared with the previous generation. These are Samsung’s claims about its Galaxy-customized Snapdragon platform, not an independent comparison with Exynos 2700. Samsung also described the S25 vapor chamber as 40% larger; that is a thermal-design claim about the S25, not a measured chipset comparison. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 announcement provides those figures.
For the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung names Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and reports increases of up to 19% CPU, 39% NPU, and 24% GPU. It also describes a redesigned vapor chamber. These are Samsung’s S26 Ultra platform claims; they should not be transferred to Snapdragon 8 Elite or Exynos 2700. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 announcement gives the platform and qualification.
