You can sign in to your Samsung account without receiving a text at the number on file if Samsung offers another verification method you can use—such as a Galaxy device already signed in to the account, an unused backup code, or an authenticator app already configured for it. If you have none of those and no longer control the old number, request a number change through Samsung’s official recovery flow. Samsung US says that process takes two weeks, and submitting another request restarts the wait.
Try a verification method you already have
Samsung’s alternatives are not ways to skip identity checks. Each works only if it is already available for your account. At the sign-in prompt, choose an offered method you can access.
Verify with a Galaxy device already signed in
If another Galaxy phone or tablet is already signed in to the same Samsung account, Samsung may let you use it to verify the sign-in. Choose the Galaxy-device option at the prompt and follow the on-screen instructions. A new device, or one that is not signed in to the account, does not provide this verification.
Enter an unused backup code
If you saved backup codes when setting up two-step verification, select the backup-code option and enter an unused code. Treat the remaining codes like passwords. Use an authenticator app already configured for the account
If you previously linked an authenticator app to your Samsung account and can still access it, choose that method and enter the current code it displays. Installing an authenticator app after losing access will not, by itself, verify that you own the Samsung account. Samsung lists authenticator apps as a verification option in its two-step verification guidance: Samsung Canada’s two-step verification guide.
If the old number is unavailable, request a number change
When you cannot use the old number or another verification method, use Samsung’s official recovery option labeled “Need to change your phone number?” or its regional equivalent. Follow the prompts to submit a request to change the number used for two-step verification.

Samsung US says the verification process takes two weeks. Submitting another request resets that waiting period, so check the new number carefully before sending the request and avoid resubmitting it. Samsung says it will notify you when the new number can be used for two-step verification. See Samsung US account sign-in troubleshooting for the current instructions.

Contact Samsung Support if the self-service options fail
If you cannot use another verification method and the number-change flow does not resolve the issue, contact Samsung Support through the official support channel for your region. Support can advise on account-specific recovery, but Samsung’s published guidance does not promise an immediate override or a guaranteed resolution time.

Do not rely on a third-party account-recovery service or a new SIM as a way around verification. Samsung’s recovery process is the supported route for proving access to the account.
Update the number after you regain access
Once signed in, replace the old number in your Samsung account’s security settings. Samsung documents routes through a Galaxy phone or tablet and through the Samsung Account website. Menu names can vary by country and software version; look for security or password-and-security settings, then open two-step verification to edit or add the text-message number and verify the new one. Samsung’s account security instructions describe the available routes.

Can you turn off two-step verification?
No supported bypass is described in Samsung’s guidance. Samsung Canada states that “Two-step verification cannot be disabled” for enhanced security and privacy. The practical path is to verify with an available method or complete the official number-change process. See Samsung Canada’s two-step verification guide.
