1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor repeatable upload, parser, media, or download tests, loremfile.dev provides synthetic sample files at stable URLs. Its September 24, 2026 article described 228 files across 78 formats; the live homepage now lists 231. The project says the fixtures are CC0, include SHA-256 hashes, and support CORS and byte-range requests.
What loremfile.dev provides
loremfile.dev is a hosted library of synthetic files intended as development and QA test inputs. The homepage’s catalog spans documents, images, video, audio, text, web and data files, archives, fonts, binary files, calendar and mail formats, certificates, and edge cases. It includes ordinary valid examples as well as deliberately malformed or truncated fixtures.
The count depends on which project page and date you consult. The September 24, 2026 DEV Community article by Prabhash reported 228 files across 78 formats, while the live homepage lists 231. The changelog records additions through September 28, 2026; the repository README still describes an older 228-file catalog and version 1.2.0. Treat 228 as the article-era figure, not the current total. DEV Community article, loremfile.dev homepage, GitHub README, changelog.
When these fixtures are useful
- Upload and file-type checks: exercise file selection, MIME detection, and validation using known formats.
- Parser and import tests: use documents, structured data, or deliberately broken examples to check how an application handles valid and malformed inputs.
- Media playback: test video or audio loading and seeking with hosted sample media.
- HTTP delivery: evaluate CORS behavior and byte-range requests, which matter for browser access and seeking.
- Size boundaries: select fixtures appropriate to a size limit or processing edge case, checking the catalog for the exact file properties before relying on them.
- Repeatable CI inputs: download by path and verify the result against the published SHA-256 manifest or sums file.
The project describes the files as synthetic. They are useful for controlled test inputs, but they should not be treated as representative customer data or as a substitute for testing against the production formats and edge cases an application actually encounters.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How to use a sample file
Choose a catalog path that matches the behavior under test, then use its URL in your application or test runner. The homepage provides examples for curl, JavaScript, and Python. For example, the general download pattern is:
curl -O https://loremfile.dev/<fixture-path>
Replace <fixture-path> with an actual path shown in the catalog. For automated workflows, the project also provides a GitHub Action that downloads selected paths and compares the files against published SHA-256 values; consult the repository README for its configuration.

Stable bytes do not mean guaranteed uptime
The project says bytes at a published path do not change, which helps keep a test’s input consistent over time. That statement is distinct from an uptime guarantee: the README says availability is not promised and a file may be withdrawn for legal reasons. If a fixture is critical to a release or long-lived CI pipeline, download and cache it in your own environment, and verify the local copy using the project’s manifest or sums file. See the README and homepage.
Respect the published request limit
The site and project documentation ask users to keep automated traffic below 30 requests per second per IP. The README expresses the same nominal rate as 300 requests per 10 seconds per IP. Avoid parallel download bursts; cache fixtures in CI rather than fetching them repeatedly for every job. Homepage, README.

Check licensing by asset type
The project states that files served under its format paths are dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0, permitting commercial and noncommercial use without permission or attribution. That does not apply automatically to every part of the site: the project says its generators, site, and tooling use MIT, while website text and graphics use CC BY 4.0 and require attribution to “loremfile.dev.” Check the license page for the distinctions.
