The claimed RuneFest reveal of a new Unreal Engine-powered RuneScape MMO and a MoistCr1TiKaL animated series is not confirmed by the official Jagex and RuneFest sources reviewed as of October 3, 2026. The facts that may be getting conflated are different projects: RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a separate Unreal Engine 5 survival-crafting game, while Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White’s documented animation project is Godslap, based on his comic.
Has Jagex announced a new RuneScape MMO at RuneFest?
Not in the official sources reviewed as of October 3, 2026. Jagex’s franchise information distinguishes the RuneScape MMORPG from RuneScape: Dragonwilds, which the company describes as a cooperative survival-crafting adventure powered by Unreal Engine 5. Jagex has also explicitly described Dragonwilds as a separate experience from the RuneScape MMORPG. Jagex’s RuneScape franchise page and its September 15, 2026 Dragonwilds announcement support those distinctions; they do not confirm a newly revealed MMO.
That is a careful status check, not proof that no announcement was made during the live event. RuneFest is taking place October 3–4, 2026, and official pages may be updated as it unfolds. Until Jagex publishes confirmation, it is inaccurate to describe the headline’s MMO reveal as established fact or to call Dragonwilds a new RuneScape MMORPG.
What is RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
Dragonwilds is a separate game in the RuneScape franchise, not a newly announced version of the long-running MMORPG. Jagex identifies it as a cooperative survival-crafting adventure and says it is powered by Unreal Engine 5. The engine detail belongs to Dragonwilds; it does not establish that a different RuneScape MMO uses Unreal Engine.

- Grab your capes and party hats, because we’re going to Gielinor!
- Inspired by the record-breaking online universe that’s captured the imagination of millions worldwide, RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg is the official cooperative board game for 1-5 players.
In its September 15 announcement, Jagex said Dragonwilds would be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. The company also said physical Standard and Deluxe editions for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S were planned for Q4 2026. These are product details for Dragonwilds, not evidence of the alleged new MMO.
Is MoistCr1TiKaL making a RuneScape animated series?
The documented animated project involving White is Godslap, not a RuneScape series. Animation World Network reported on September 8, 2026, that the comic he created is being adapted as a 2D hand-drawn animated feature. The report names Lyrical Animation and White’s Meatier Productions as producers, with Powerhouse Animation handling animation; it gives a planned 2028 release. Neither that report nor the reviewed production listing connects the film to RuneScape.

Animation World Network also reported that the Godslap comic had sold more than 100,000 copies. That figure concerns the comic, not RuneScape or the proposed scale of any game-related project. The documented format matters too: the project is an animated feature, not confirmation of an animated series.
What is confirmed about RuneFest 2026?
The official RuneFest FAQ schedules the event for October 3–4, 2026, at Hall 5 of Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. The organizer describes it as an anniversary gathering welcoming 6,000 players, with two stages, developer panels, creator Q&As, quests, skill challenges and anniversary collectibles. Those are event details; they do not substantiate the specific game and animation claims in the headline.

Why the MoistCr1TiKaL connection can be confusing
White has appeared in a separate gaming collaboration: an official AdventureQuest 3D post records a MoistCr1TiKaL event in that game in January 2022. AdventureQuest 3D is not RuneScape, and that event is not evidence of a Jagex partnership or a RuneScape animated adaptation.

Jagex’s 2026 anniversary materials mark 25 years of RuneScape. The company has said the franchise has welcomed more than 300 million player accounts; that is a company-reported account total, not a count of unique active players. Neither anniversary fact verifies a new MMO or series announcement.
