RuneFest 2026 outlined substantial 2027 plans for Old School RuneScape, RuneScape and RuneScape: Dragonwilds, but the roadmaps are not equally definite. Dragonwilds has the clearest feature and timing details; RuneScape’s plan is broader, while several Old School RuneScape ideas still depend on polls. The official material reviewed does not confirm the new MMO suggested by the original headline.
Jagex’s RuneFest 2026 took place at Birmingham NEC on October 3–4. The event schedule listed separate summits for Dragonwilds, RuneScape and Old School RuneScape, with the latter two previewing 2027 plans. Jagex had described the event as hosting 6,000 fans in a January 15, 2026 press release.

Old School RuneScape: one dated feature and several proposals
The October 3, 2026 Old School RuneScape summit overview mixes an announced release with ideas Jagex wants players to consider. The distinction matters: proposed content is not a guaranteed part of the 2027 release schedule.

Jagex announced Hardcore Worlds as a permanent, separate-world experience beginning November 4, 2026. Characters have one life, and the worlds do not provide XP or drop-rate boosts. After a death, players can choose a full restart or transfer to the main game. Items lost on death are excluded from that transfer.

Dungeons of Gielinor is still a proposal
Jagex presented Dungeons of Gielinor as a possible suite of at least five bosses spanning different difficulty levels, alongside a short early-game quest, Slayer creatures and improvements to some existing dungeons. The boss roster was still being developed, and the overview asked players whether and how the project should be added. The proposed scale should not be read as a confirmed final lineup.
Menaphos and its features are up for consideration
The proposed new Kharidian Desert area would include the Master-level quest Fool’s Gold, the true Soul Altar and the Vault of the Soul Altar skilling dungeon. Jagex also asked whether to add Menaphos and its features; these are proposals rather than confirmed releases.
Mining, Smithing and quest ideas depend on player feedback
The summit overview asked whether Jagex should explore reworking Mining and Smithing; it did not announce a finished redesign. Fairytale III – Nexus of Power was described as due in 2027 if it passes a poll. The Chosen Commander and Quest Month also appeared as proposals, alongside suggested quality-of-life improvements for questing and new players.

RuneScape: Reignited points to a broad 2027 calendar
Jagex’s official RuneScape Reignited page calls 2027 the game’s biggest content-calendar year to date and says the calendar begins in January. It points to further chapters in ongoing story arcs, but does not provide a complete month-by-month schedule or detailed dates for every release.

The page also describes continuing work on a remastered player journey, with parts II and III expected later in 2027. Officially supported plugins have been integrated into the game. The page frames the year as a broad program of content and ongoing work, not a fully dated list of launches.
Dragonwilds has the most detailed 2027 feature outline
In its October 3, 2026 summit recap, the RuneScape: Dragonwilds team laid out story, gameplay and infrastructure plans. These are Jagex’s stated intentions and schedules; a planned feature is not proof that it has shipped.

Blood Crystal Saga spans two chapters
Jagex described Luminance as the next free update, planned for December 2026 and intended as a prelude to the Blood Crystal Saga. The saga begins with Song of Rebellion, centered on rebel elves, Ailddinas and the Nos Clan. Crown of Night follows the conflict into an eclipsed region.

Modding tools and online features are planned for early 2027
Jagex says dedicated creation tools, an in-game mod browser and installer are planned for all platforms in the first half of 2027. The team said this release window would coincide with Song of Rebellion, secure servers and leaderboards.
The Dragonwilds team also said it would continue free updates and quality-of-life improvements, with player feedback informing that work.
