Short answer: NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip and e.l.f. Glow Reviver Lip Oil are less expensive glossy alternatives to Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment, but neither is a formula-identical dupe. Rhode is positioned as a thicker, balm-like glaze; NYX and e.l.f. are tinted oils with different ingredients and feel. Choose by texture, scent, tint and budget—not by assuming a cheaper oil will wear or perform exactly like Rhode.
At a glance: price, size and product positioning
These are US prices displayed on the official brand pages, accessed October 7, 2026. Prices and product details can change. The NYX and e.l.f. sizes were not stated in the reviewed official listings.

Which one feels closest to Rhode?
Rhode: a thicker, balm-like glaze
Rhode describes the unscented Peptide Lip Treatment as a “thick glaze that glides on smoothly.” Its ingredient list starts with hydrogenated polyisobutene and diisostearyl malate, followed by shea butter, polybutene and waxes. That ingredient profile, alongside the brand’s own description, supports placing it in the richer, balm-like gloss category.
NYX: a tinted lip oil
NYX calls Fat Oil Lip Drip a tinted lip oil. Its ingredient list shares some emollient ingredients with Rhode, including polyisobutene and hydrogenated polyisobutene, but also includes mineral oil, flavor and colorants. Ingredient overlap does not mean the products have the same feel or performance.
#1 Best Overall
e.l.f.: an oil positioned as non-sticky
e.l.f. describes Glow Reviver Lip Oil as a non-sticky, hydrating, high-gloss sheer tinted lip oil. That positioning makes it a relevant choice if a lighter-feeling oil is more appealing than a thick glaze. “Non-sticky” is e.l.f.’s description, not a result from a comparative test.
How the featured ingredients differ
Rhode highlights palmitoyl tripeptide-1, shea butter and vitamin E, as well as babassu oil and cupuaçu butter. Its full published ingredient list includes emollients, waxes, oils, antioxidants and the peptide. NYX highlights cloudberry oil, raspberry oil and squalane, while e.l.f. emphasizes squalane and several plant oils.
These are useful clues to how brands position their products, not proof that one ingredient list delivers better results. The presence of a peptide, butter or oil by itself does not establish comparative hydration, comfort or wear.

Do the cheaper lip oils last as long as Rhode?
The official pages do not establish a wear winner. NYX’s “up to 12-hour” statement refers to its hydration claim; it does not prove that visible gloss lasts for 12 hours or that the product outlasts Rhode or e.l.f. The reviewed e.l.f. and Rhode pages do not provide a standardized, comparable timed wear test.
Rhode reports a consumer-perception study involving 32 subjects on its vanilla listing, with percentages reflecting perception after immediate use. That is not a head-to-head study with NYX or e.l.f., so it cannot establish that Rhode performs better than either alternative. The available official product information supports comparing brand claims and texture positioning, not ranking actual wear.

Check scent and shade before buying
Rhode’s unscented version is described as fragrance-free. Its vanilla version contains fragrance and carries a warning that fragrance can irritate sensitized skin. NYX’s listed ingredients include flavor, and its product page advises checking the package for the full ingredients of the selected shade. Formulas and shade ingredients may vary, so review the specific product you plan to buy if you have sensitivities.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which product should you choose?
- Choose Rhode if you want the brand’s thicker, balm-like glaze, its featured peptide-and-butter ingredients, and an unscented option. Its listed US price is $20 for 10 ml / 0.3 fl oz.
- Choose NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip if you want a less expensive tinted lip oil and are interested in NYX’s cloudberry, raspberry and squalane positioning. The official US listing showed $10; the reviewed result did not state the size.
- Choose e.l.f. Glow Reviver Lip Oil if you prefer a sheer tint, high gloss, a minty scent and e.l.f.’s non-sticky oil positioning. Its official listing showed $9; the reviewed page did not state the size.
In short, NYX and e.l.f. are affordable adjacent options, not confirmed Rhode formula dupes. The meaningful distinction is the kind of product you want to apply: a thicker glaze or a tinted lip oil.
