Use the reset method for your exact Sensi model: Sensi Smart and Sensi Lite use button combinations, while Sensi Touch and Touch 2 have a Factory Reset option in their menus. A factory reset is different from a power cycle, which simply restarts the thermostat. Sensi recommends resetting only when its support instructions advise it. Sensi’s reset guide
Find your Sensi model first
The model number is on a sticker on the back of the thermostat cover. Pull the cover straight toward you to remove it, then turn it over to check the label. The sticker also includes a MAC ID and Sensi Security Code, which can be useful for Wi-Fi setup, account transfers, or rebate needs. Sensi’s model-number instructions
Factory-reset your thermostat
Use the procedure for your model. Do not use battery removal as a factory-reset method for every Sensi thermostat; the touchscreen models have a separate menu command.

- At the thermostat, press and hold the Up, Down, and Fan buttons at the same time.
- Release the buttons when the display flashes and reboots.
Sensi Lite
- Press and hold Up, Down, and the three-dot Menu button together for at least one second.
- Release when the display resets.
Sensi Touch
- Tap Menu.
- Tap About Thermostat.
- Tap Factory Reset.
Sensi Touch 2
- Tap the menu icon.
- Tap About Thermostat.
- Tap Factory Reset.
These model-specific steps come from Sensi’s reset instructions. The documented reset behavior can differ by model: the Sensi Touch manual says its factory reset restores settings to defaults except HVAC Equipment settings and clears HomeKit pairing. Sensi Room Sensor
The Room Sensor is a separate device, not a thermostat model. Remove its plastic back piece and hold the Reset button for five seconds. Sensi’s reset guide
Reconnect Wi-Fi and allow recalibration
After resetting a thermostat, reconnect it to Wi-Fi using the instructions for your model. Sensi says to allow 30–60 minutes for room-temperature recalibration after a reset. Sensi reset and reconnection instructions

Power-cycle instead if you only need a restart
If the thermostat is unresponsive and you do not need to clear its settings, try a power cycle rather than a factory reset. The steps differ by model:

- Sensi Touch or Touch 2: Remove the thermostat from its sub-base to disconnect power, then reinstall it.

If the problem continues after resetting
Wi-Fi will not reconnect
Follow Sensi’s reconnection steps for your model. On Sensi Smart, low batteries can interfere with Wi-Fi; Sensi specifies two fresh AA alkaline batteries for that model. For Sensi Lite, it specifies two fresh AAA alkaline batteries. These battery recommendations apply to those battery-powered models, not every Sensi thermostat. Sensi Wi-Fi troubleshooting
Heating or cooling still does not work
A reset cannot resolve every power, wiring, or HVAC-equipment fault. Check that HVAC power is on, then verify the wiring and system configuration. If the equipment may need service, contact an HVAC professional. Sensi heating troubleshooting
