In FC 27, the closest match to a football regista is the Deep-Lying Playmaker role. “Regista” is a useful tactical analogy, not the in-game role name listed in the FC 27 references. The role starts deep in midfield to help connect defence to attack; its Focus determines whether it stays more protective or moves forward and across the pitch.
What does the Regista role mean in FC 27?
Look for Deep-Lying Playmaker in the role listings for CDM or CM. The role is intended to help build attacks from a deeper position by offering a passing connection between the back line and midfield. EA’s FC 25 FC IQ explanation described this type of player as a defensively positioned midfielder who helps build play from the back and acts as a catalyst for attacks; the FC 27 role listings support that core description, but do not call it “Regista.” EA’s FC IQ explanation provides earlier-edition system context.
FC IQ roles describe how a player is assigned to move and contribute with and without the ball, while a Focus adjusts aspects of that behavior. EA’s detailed explanation cited here is for FC 25, so use the FC 27 role listings for current role names and focus descriptions. The FC 27 listings show Deep-Lying Playmaker at both CM and CDM, but focus options differ between the position references; check the live game menu rather than assuming every focus is available at either position.

The starting idea is a midfielder who remains involved in the first stages of possession rather than making the role’s main contribution by charging into the final third. From CDM, the player can provide a central outlet for defenders and help initiate attacks. The selected Focus changes how much defensive protection, forward movement, or lateral freedom the role prioritizes.

Defend
The CDM description says Defend closes passing lanes and stays back while the team attacks. This is the more protective choice when you want a deep distributor to remain behind the ball and help preserve the midfield screen. The CM reference also lists Defend, but consult the in-game options for the exact behavior at your position.
Roaming
In the CDM reference, Roaming lets the player move across the pitch to support attacks and become a passing option. That flexibility can help create connections in different areas, but the role description explicitly warns that the player may be out of position. Teammates may need to cover the central space the midfielder leaves.

Build-Up
Build-Up moves the player forward to offer a passing option and support attacks. It makes the Deep-Lying Playmaker a more progressive outlet than a fixed holding screen, with the listed tradeoff of reduced defensive support. The CDM and CM references both describe this focus, but the live menu is the final guide to position-specific availability.

A useful selection principle is to match the Focus to the space your other midfielders and defenders can cover.

Deep-Lying Playmaker suits a plan that wants a deep midfielder to help launch attacks.
