Its 108MP main camera can take pleasing daylight photos, but low-light shots and demanding games expose its limits. This review covers the India 5G model; realme sells different phones under the realme 12 name in other markets.
India realme 12 5G: key specifications
These specifications are for the India-market realme 12 5G, according to realme India’s specification page. Check the exact market and configuration before buying, since other regional models called realme 12 differ materially.

| Memory and storage | 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM; 128GB storage |

| Connections and extras | Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, 3.5mm headphone jack |
| In-box items | 45W adapter, USB-C cable, protective case and screen film |
Do not assume these details apply to every phone sold as “realme 12.” For example, realme Bangladesh’s realme 12 page describes a Snapdragon 685 model with an AMOLED display, OIS and 67W charging. The Philippines specification page lists a 50MP OIS main camera and 16MP selfie camera. Those are regional variants, not specifications for the India realme 12 5G reviewed here.
What are the realme 12 5G’s main pros?
Large, smooth screen
The 6.72-inch FHD+ display refreshes at up to 120Hz, making scrolling and compatible animations look smoother than on a standard 60Hz screen. The quoted peak brightness is 950 nits, though that manufacturer specification is not a guarantee of brightness in every setting. The panel is LCD, not AMOLED.

Strong everyday battery endurance
The phone combines a 5000mAh typical-capacity battery with 45W charging. In its review, 91mobiles reported 19 hours and 15 minutes in a PCMark battery test and estimated 5–6 hours of screen-on time in real use. Those are reviewer observations, not a promise of identical results for every user.
91mobiles also reported that charging from about 20% to 100% took 65–70 minutes using the compatible adapter included in the box. In its 4K YouTube playback test at 50% brightness and volume, the phone lost 5% charge. Usage, settings and test conditions affect battery results.
Decent daylight main-camera photos
91mobiles found that the 108MP main camera focused relatively quickly and produced decent daylight images for the phone’s price range, with punchy, vibrant color and useful detail. The reviewer also noted that colors could look slightly oversaturated. The camera is best viewed as a capable everyday daylight option rather than a guarantee of consistently natural color.

LCD rather than AMOLED
The LCD panel offers a large, high-refresh-rate viewing area, but it does not provide AMOLED’s characteristic contrast. In its comparison, 91mobiles pointed to the Redmi Note 13 as an AMOLED alternative. If deep blacks and high-contrast video matter more to you than screen size or refresh rate, compare the actual local variants before choosing.
Camera quality falls off in harder conditions
91mobiles reported that low-light photos lost detail and could appear grainy. It also found portrait edge separation inconsistent, with bokeh sometimes looking artificial, and considered selfie facial detail underwhelming. The 108MP label alone does not establish performance in poor light or portraits.

Demanding games can cause drops and heat
Casual gaming was adequate in 91mobiles’ assessment, but its half-hour BGMI test at HD settings showed noticeable frame drops, an approximately 9°C rise in thermals and an 8% battery decrease. These are results from that review’s test, not independently reproduced measurements or a prediction for every game session.
Software may need some tidying
91mobiles said app recommendations and preinstalled third-party apps made the initial software experience feel cluttered. The reviewer noted that removable apps and customization options provide ways to tailor it.
Update support deserves a check
91mobiles reported a promise of two years of OS updates. The Indian Express also reported at launch on March 6, 2024, that realme promised two Android OS updates and three years of security patches. That is launch-era reporting, not confirmation of the phone’s current update status; check realme’s present support policy for your region before buying.

How fast is the realme 12 5G?
The Dimensity 6100+ is suited to everyday tasks, multitasking and casual play based on 91mobiles’ assessment, but the review’s figures should be treated as results from its particular test unit and conditions. It recorded an AnTuTu score of 417,413 and Geekbench scores of 738 single-core and 1,935 multi-core. Benchmarks can vary with software, temperature and test conditions; they do not guarantee the same result on another device.
The observed frame drops and thermal rise in the reviewer’s half-hour BGMI HD test matter more to gaming buyers than a benchmark number alone. If demanding games are a priority, compare sustained gameplay results and chipset performance on the exact alternatives available in your market.
realme 12 5G vs. Redmi Note 13 and Infinix Note 30
91mobiles’ comparison points to different strengths rather than a universal winner. Its review says the Redmi Note 13 offers an AMOLED screen and stronger gaming performance, while the Infinix Note 30 offers JBL-powered speakers. Compare the specific local variants and current prices; 2024 launch pricing does not establish today’s relative value.
| Phone | Comparison point reported by 91mobiles | What to check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| India realme 12 5G | 120Hz LCD; everyday use and casual gaming were adequate in the review | Daylight and low-light camera results, gaming behavior, battery needs and current local price |
| Redmi Note 13 | AMOLED screen and stronger gaming performance, according to 91mobiles | Exact variant, display brightness, camera performance, update commitment and current local price |
| Infinix Note 30 | JBL-powered speakers, according to 91mobiles | Exact variant, display and chipset, camera, support commitment and current local price |
Should you buy the India realme 12 5G?
Choose it if your priorities are a large 120Hz screen, everyday performance, long battery endurance and decent daylight photos. It is a less convincing fit if you regularly play demanding games, take many low-light photos, want detailed selfies, prefer AMOLED contrast or need a longer verified update commitment. The 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB configurations launched in India at ₹16,999 and ₹17,999 respectively, according to The Indian Express on March 6, 2024; those are historical launch prices, not current offers.
If you shop online, check that the listing is specifically for the India realme 12 5G and that its RAM and storage configuration match your needs. Similar regional names can refer to substantially different phones.
