To capture a rectangular region in Puppeteer, pass a clip object with x, y, width, and height to page.screenshot(). Use ElementHandle.screenshot() instead when the boundary should follow a particular DOM element.
Capture an arbitrary rectangle with clip
Put the clip coordinates and dimensions in the options object passed to page.screenshot():

});This saves the clipped image as region.png. The numbers are illustrative: they do not identify a particular element, and you should choose values that match the page layout and capture you want. What the coordinates and dimensions mean
xandylocate the region to capture.widthandheightset the region’s dimensions.scaleis an optionalScreenshotClipproperty. Its documented default is1.
Check the resulting image when the page layout, viewport, browser, or protocol affects the output. The clip defines a rectangle; it does not move or resize itself to match page content.

Save the result to a file
The path option is optional. Puppeteer infers the image type from the file extension when you provide a path. Without a path, the screenshot is not saved to disk. For the full set of documented screenshot options, consult the Puppeteer ScreenshotOptions API.
Capture a DOM element by its rendered bounds
If you want the screenshot boundary to match an element rather than a manually specified rectangle, obtain an element handle and call its screenshot() method:

Puppeteer’s documented ElementHandle.screenshot() method scrolls the element into view if needed, then uses Page.screenshot(). It throws if the element has been detached from the DOM.

The documentation describes both methods but does not prescribe one universally. Choose based on whether your desired boundary is a fixed rectangle or an element’s bounds.

Protocol support and version notes
The Puppeteer ScreenshotOptions reference and screenshot guide identify version 25.12.0; the ScreenshotClip type reference identifies version 25.10.0. These pages are not all labeled with the same version, so consult the reference matching the Puppeteer version in your project.
Puppeteer’s WebDriver BiDi support page lists clip, encoding, and fullPage among supported Page.screenshot parameters. That list is a subset; it should not be taken as a guarantee that every screenshot option works in every protocol or browser setup.

Troubleshoot clipped screenshots
The image shows the wrong area
Review x, y, width, and height against the page layout and viewport used for the capture. A clip is an explicit rectangle, not a selector. If the region should track an element, use that element’s screenshot method instead.

Check that the selector matches an element after the page has loaded. The example checks for a missing handle before calling screenshot(). If the element is detached before capture, Puppeteer documents that ElementHandle.screenshot() throws.

The file is not saved where expected
Set path to the filename you want. Without a path, Puppeteer does not save the screenshot to disk. When a path is used, the extension determines the inferred image type.
Behavior differs with WebDriver BiDi
Check the protocol-specific support list rather than assuming all screenshot options behave alike. Puppeteer’s BiDi documentation explicitly lists clip, but does not claim support there for every option.
