Use browser.newPage() to create a page in Puppeteer’s default browser context. Use browser.createBrowserContext() followed by context.newPage() when pages need a separate session boundary or a shared context that you can close as a unit. The page’s type option controls whether it is created as a tab or window; it does not launch or connect to the browser.
Choose how the page should be created
There are two decisions to make: which browser context owns the page, and whether the page should be presented as a tab or a window. The context determines the page’s session boundary. The page-creation options determine its presentation and background behavior.

Create a page in the default context
For a straightforward page that can share the default browser context, call browser.newPage():

await page.goto('https://example.com');browser.newPage() returns a page in the default context. Use this route when your automation does not require an independent context for that page.

Create a page with an independent session
Create a BrowserContext first when a page needs its own session boundary, or when multiple related pages should share a context and be closed together:

await context.close();Pages in separate contexts do not share cookies or cache. The BrowserContext documentation also describes isolated storage, including cookies and local storage. Closing a context closes its associated pages, which makes it a useful cleanup boundary for an automation task.
The API documentation notes that non-default Chrome contexts are incognito. That statement is specific to Chrome; do not assume it applies identically to every browser backend Puppeteer may connect to.

Choose a tab or window with CreatePageOptions
The documented CreatePageOptions type is a union. Omit type or set it to 'tab' to request a tab. Set type: 'window' to request a window; that form can also include windowBounds. Either form may include background.

});Use a window only when the distinction matters to your browser workflow; otherwise a tab is the simpler choice. These are page-creation options, not browser launch settings. Check the reference for the Puppeteer version installed in your project before relying on a particular option shape: the available API references do not all display the same version.
Page creation is separate from launching or connecting
Puppeteer can launch a browser process or connect to an existing browser. Either way, page creation happens after you have a Browser object. The choice between browser.newPage() and a separately created BrowserContext is independent of how that browser was obtained.

Keep browser lifetime distinct from page or context lifetime. browser.close() closes the browser and its associated pages. If Puppeteer is connected to an externally managed browser, disconnecting detaches Puppeteer without shutting down that browser.

The page shares cookies or session state unexpectedly
Check whether you used browser.newPage(), which creates the page in the default context. Create a BrowserContext and call context.newPage() if the task needs a separate session boundary.

A context’s closure closes its associated pages. Keep pages that must remain open outside that context, or delay context.close() until all work in the context is complete.

The requested window or bounds have no effect
Verify that type is set to 'window' when using windowBounds, and check the CreatePageOptions reference matching the Puppeteer version installed. The version displayed by one live API reference may not match another.
Closing Puppeteer unexpectedly stops the browser
browser.close() shuts down the browser and associated pages. When connected to an externally managed browser that should remain running, disconnect Puppeteer instead of closing the browser.
