Puppeteer’s DeviceRequestPrompt is a handle for responding to a page’s request to choose a device, commonly through Web Bluetooth. Call page.waitForDevicePrompt() before triggering the page action; then inspect the prompt’s listed devices and select a match, or cancel the request.
What a Puppeteer device request prompt does
Puppeteer describes device request prompts as a way to respond when a page requests a device through an API such as Web Bluetooth. Puppeteer’s API reference documents the prompt object returned by Page.waitForDevicePrompt().
The object represents the pending request and exposes the devices currently available to choose from. Each listed device has an id and a name—the name shown in the prompt. Wait for the prompt before triggering the request
Start waiting before the page action that opens the device prompt. Puppeteer’s API reference warns that waitForDevicePrompt() does not return a prompt that is already active. If you click the page first and only then start waiting, the automation can miss the request.

Start the wait and the triggering action together with Promise.all, then filter the devices and select the matching result:

Choose a listed device or cancel the request
Select a matching device
Use waitForDevice(filter, options?) to wait for a device matching your predicate. The example filters by the displayed name, then passes the returned device to select(device). The predicate should reflect the device identity your test expects rather than assuming the first listed device is the right one.

If the test needs to dismiss the pending request, call await devicePrompt.cancel() rather than selecting a device. The documented prompt methods are waitForDevice(filter, options?), select(device), and cancel(). Puppeteer DeviceRequestPrompt API

Device request handling is not device emulation
A device request prompt handles a page’s request to choose a device. It does not emulate a physical device. Puppeteer separately documents KnownDevices for Page.emulate(), which is a browser emulation feature; it is distinct from responding to a device request. Puppeteer KnownDevices reference
Compatibility notes
Puppeteer’s repository test-expectations file marks device-request-prompt tests as skipped for Firefox. That is a test-suite configuration signal, not a complete browser support matrix, so it does not by itself establish definitive support or lack of support. Troubleshooting common failures
The wait never returns
Confirm that waitForDevicePrompt() starts before the click or other action that requests a device. It will not return a prompt that was already active when the wait began. Coordinate the wait and trigger with Promise.all, as in the example.

No device matches the filter
Check the displayed names exposed in prompt.devices and make sure the filter reflects the name the prompt actually presents. A predicate that expects a different name will not identify the intended result.
The flow behaves differently in Firefox
The repository’s test expectations skip these tests for Firefox, but this does not settle the full compatibility question. Verify the current Puppeteer/browser support for the browser version and setup you are using before relying on this flow.
