To keep Puppeteer CSS coverage from resetting on every navigation, pass { resetOnNavigation: false } to page.coverage.startCSSCoverage(). The documented default is true, which resets coverage on each navigation. Start collection before the pages you want to inspect, then call page.coverage.stopCSSCoverage() to retrieve the stylesheet entries.
What CSSCoverageOptions controls
In Puppeteer 25.10.0’s API reference, CSSCoverageOptions is the optional options object accepted by page.coverage.startCSSCoverage(options?). It exposes one setting: resetOnNavigation, a boolean controlling whether CSS coverage resets on every navigation.

This setting describes reset behavior; it is not a general guarantee that coverage data persists through every possible page or browser lifecycle event. Keep that distinction in mind when interpreting a multi-page run.

Start CSS coverage with the option before navigating, perform the navigation or interactions you want included, and stop collection to obtain the results:

Estimate the used share of reported CSS bytes
Puppeteer’s coverage example estimates the used-byte share by comparing the length of each entry’s stylesheet text with the lengths of its reported covered ranges. Applied to CSS entries alone:

Treat the percentage as a signal for the collected run, not as proof that every omitted rule is safe to delete.

Know what CSS coverage omits
Puppeteer’s stopCSSCoverage() documentation says CSS coverage does not include dynamically injected style tags without sourceURLs. Such styles will not appear in the returned coverage entries. If your application creates styles at runtime, account for this blind spot before using a coverage report to remove supposedly unused CSS.
The Coverage API is intended to report which parts of a page’s JavaScript and CSS were used. For an Istanbul-consumable output workflow, Puppeteer points to puppeteer-to-istanbul; the exact tooling setup depends on the format and reporting workflow you need.

Troubleshooting CSS coverage
- The start call has no report: That is expected.
startCSSCoverage()resolves tovoid; awaitstopCSSCoverage()after the collection window to receive entries. - The report reflects only the last navigation: Check whether you omitted the option or set
resetOnNavigation: true. Set it tofalsewhen you do not want a reset on every navigation. - Some runtime styling is missing: Dynamically injected style tags without a
sourceURLare outside the documented CSS coverage results. - The used percentage is zero: Check whether the returned entries contain CSS text and ranges before calculating a percentage. The example guards against division by zero when there are no reported bytes.
