Add money to your PSN wallet through PlayStation Store’s website, your PS5 or PS4 settings, or a PlayStation Store gift card. When you buy a game, wallet funds are used first; if they do not cover the total, another eligible payment method can pay the remainder.

How to add funds to your PSN wallet

Choose the route for the device you are using. The exact payment options available depend on the country or region of your PlayStation Store account.

On the PlayStation Store website

  1. Sign in to PlayStation Store with the account you want to fund.
  2. Select your profile icon, then choose Payment Management > Add Funds.
  3. Choose a payment method and amount, then follow the prompts to add the funds.

To check your balance on the website, open Payment Management; PlayStation says the balance appears at the top. See PlayStation’s wallet funding guide.

On PS5

  1. Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Add Funds.
  2. Choose a payment method and amount, continue, then confirm the top-up.

On PS4

  1. Open Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Wallet. Sign in if prompted.
  2. Select Add Funds, choose a payment method and amount, continue, and confirm.

Adding money with a PlayStation Store gift card

A PlayStation Store gift card or voucher is an alternative to adding funds with a payment method. Redeem the code on the account you want to fund, or follow PlayStation’s instructions for using a voucher during checkout. The voucher must match the region of your account, so check region compatibility before buying or redeeming it. PlayStation explains the steps in its voucher redemption guide.

Choose a voucher if you want to spend prepaid funds or your usual payment method is unavailable for your account region. A payment method may still be needed for some subscriptions, even if your wallet has funds.

How wallet funds work when you buy a game

At checkout, PlayStation applies wallet funds first. If the wallet does not cover the full purchase, the remaining balance can be paid with another eligible payment method. Select the game, proceed through checkout, and review the total and payment method before confirming.

Payment options differ by PlayStation Store region. For example, PlayStation’s US support page lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, and Cash App Pay for the United States; that list should not be assumed to apply elsewhere. Check the accepted payment methods page for the region tied to your account.

Account and payment restrictions to know

  • Child accounts: They do not have their own wallet and cannot add funds. Eligible purchases may use the family manager’s wallet, subject to the child’s monthly spending limit. PlayStation says the default limit is zero.
  • Refunds: Funds added to a wallet cannot be refunded, according to PlayStation’s wallet guidance.
  • Subscriptions: Wallet funds may not remove the requirement for a saved payment method when purchasing a subscription.
  • Card region: A card registered in a different country from the PlayStation Store account’s region may not link. PlayStation advises using a card from the same region where possible, or another available payment method or wallet top-up code. See its card troubleshooting guidance.

What to do if a wallet top-up fails

  1. Check whether the payment method is accepted for the country or region of your PlayStation Store account.
  2. Check the card details and billing address. If the card was issued in another region, try an eligible same-region card, another supported payment method, or a region-matched voucher.
  3. Check PlayStation service status if wallet funding is unavailable.
  4. Review your transaction history to see whether the top-up or purchase completed before trying again.
  5. If the issue continues, contact your bank or card provider, or PlayStation Support. PlayStation’s wallet funding troubleshooting guide covers these checks.
