What files does a PS5 emulator need?
According to RPCS5’s getting-started page, its setup accepts a folder of game files or an original PS5 disc and asks users to install firmware from a file named PS5UPDATE.PUP. The page also says legitimate firmware is required and should not be redistributed.
These are unverified instructions from the site, not a confirmed PS5-emulation workflow. No reliable project documentation established that the named firmware file, game files, or disc-reading steps work as described. Do not treat them as proven requirements or follow them as tested setup instructions.

Which PS5 games are compatible?
No trustworthy game-by-game compatibility list or independently tested compatibility figures could be confirmed as of October 4, 2026. Consequently, there is no verified compatibility percentage, count of working games, or dependable recommendation for a “best” PS5 emulator. A claim that one specific commercial title works would need independent testing to support it.
Can I use my own PS5 game disc?

Is PS5 emulation legal?

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s U.S. Product Software License Agreement, version 2.0, grants a limited, non-commercial, revocable right to use covered software solely on the product.
