ZStack review
A self-hosted platform for VM lifecycle control, recovery, migration, and failover.

ZStack is a self-hosted infrastructure platform for organizations managing private-cloud and virtualized data-center environments. It covers VM provisioning and lifecycle management, compute, storage and network virtualization, host and cluster administration, and centralized management across environments. Its audience includes enterprise infrastructure teams, private-cloud operators, and technical research groups that need control over virtual machines and their supporting resources.
The plan structure gives buyers a free entry point but separates research use from supported production operation. Community is free of use, has unlimited compute nodes and perpetual validity, but includes no after-sales technical support and is intended for technical research. Enterprise Trial provides one year at no charge, includes one host, applies to test environments, and also excludes after-sales technical support. Standard adds official after-sales technical support during the specified period alongside computing, storage, and network virtualization. Enterprise Prepaid includes those virtualization capabilities plus GPU, CloudFormation, and auto-scaling features; paid editions require contacting sales.
ZStack stands out for the breadth of its VM recovery and continuity features. It supports hot or live migration between hosts, automatic VM restart and failover, local, remote, and public-cloud backup and recovery, and continuous data protection with point-in-time recovery. RESTful API administration supports automation, while centralized management includes VMware vSphere; Commvault is also listed as an integration. Choose ZStack if your team needs self-hosted control across KVM, XDragon, and VMware environments with recovery workflows built into the platform. It is less suitable for teams seeking a fully managed service or a supported free production edition.
