Zscaler Internet Access is a cloud-delivered secure web gateway and security service edge platform for enterprises and distributed workforces. It routes user and device traffic through Zscaler’s cloud for internet and SaaS access, replacing the need for on-premises gateway appliances. Its core controls include URL filtering, TLS/SSL inspection, cloud firewall and intrusion prevention, DNS security, sandboxing, CASB functionality, inline DLP, browser isolation, and identity-aware user and group policies.

The published plans are sales-led. Essentials Platform combines Secure Internet Access with Zscaler Private Access Standard and standard versions of Digital Experience, alert-only Data Security, Sandbox, Firewall, Cyber Isolation, and Zero Trust for Workloads. Zscaler Platform includes Secure Internet Access, Private Access for all users, inline web and all-apps Data Security, plus standard versions of the same supporting capabilities. There is no free plan, so organizations should evaluate the bundle structure and required support tier with Zscaler before choosing an edition.

ZIA fits environments that need centralized policy across web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android traffic, with integrations spanning SIEM, SOAR, XDR, SD-WAN, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and Microsoft Azure Virtual WAN. Features such as country-based logging and bandwidth control add policy depth beyond basic proxying. Standard support is 8x5, while some paid support tiers provide 24x7x365 coverage. Choose ZIA when broad cloud security controls and ecosystem connectivity matter; organizations seeking a free, self-service, or narrowly focused proxy should look elsewhere.
