Zilliz Cloud review
A capable managed vector database for teams building AI search applications.

Zilliz Cloud is a fully managed Milvus service for building and operating vector search applications. It is aimed at teams developing semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation, recommendations, and multimodal retrieval workloads without managing database infrastructure directly. The service provides managed cloud clusters through a web interface and API, with SDK access for Python, Java, Go, and Node.js. It supports dense, sparse, and binary vector data, making it suitable for applications that need more than basic similarity search.
Its strongest technical advantage is search breadth. Approximate nearest-neighbor search is complemented by metadata and scalar-field filtering, multi-vector hybrid search with reranking, sparse vector search, BM25, and full-text search. Integrated embedding and model workflows extend the platform beyond storage and retrieval, while backup and restore features support operational workflows. Migration from Milvus and other data infrastructure can help teams move existing workloads. AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, and Microsoft Azure Blob Storage integrations also give it a practical fit within cloud-based data environments. Category specifications include support for up to 32768 dimensions and AUTOINDEX and MINHASH_LSH index types.
The Free plan provides a cluster at $0 per cluster per month, with 5 GB of storage, 2.5 million vCUs per month, and up to 5 collections. Serverless uses pay-per-operation pricing, while Dedicated uses pay-as-you-go compute pricing and provides dedicated cluster resources. Dedicated deployments can run as SaaS or BYOC. This model suits teams that want managed operations and can align spending with usage, but it may be less suitable for buyers requiring a fixed subscription budget. Zilliz Cloud is a strong choice for Milvus-compatible cloud deployments and feature-rich AI retrieval systems; teams seeking self-hosted infrastructure or a narrowly focused vector store should consider alternatives.
Zilliz Cloud pros and cons
