ZetaNAS is an open-source, self-hosted NAS platform for SMBs, startups, and growing data teams. It combines file sharing and team collaboration with native S3 and POSIX access, NFS and PNFS support, storage snapshots, synchronization, version history, access controls, and audit capabilities. Its stated workloads include business documents, media assets, medical research data, and AI/ML pipelines. The web-based platform supports x86 and ARM hardware and can extend from a single server to distributed clusters.

The Self-Hosted Community plan costs $0 per month and includes installation on your own hardware, full core storage features, no capacity or node limits, two official extensions, and community forum support. The $99-per-month Cloud plan adds cross-cloud data sync, four official extensions, five edge device connections, custom domains, and Cloudflare integration. Enterprise costs $499 per month and adds distributed cluster support, unlimited extensions and edge devices, the DataStream service, 24/7 online technical support, global edge optimization, and a dedicated account manager. The plans show monthly pricing, with annual billing receiving 20% off.

ZetaNAS covers a wide range of storage and collaboration needs rather than focusing only on file serving. Its Docker-based application and plugin catalog, containerized edge runtime, deduplication, erasure coding, compression, multi-device synchronization, and version history make it suited to teams combining shared files with application and data workflows. The free tier fits organizations that can manage their own hardware and rely on community support. Choose Cloud when cross-cloud synchronization and managed connectivity matter, or Enterprise when distributed clusters, edge scale, and dedicated support are requirements. Teams seeking a web-only, narrowly focused NAS may find this broader feature set unnecessary.
