zeitkapsl is a European photo and video storage service for individuals and families. It automatically backs up photos, videos and Live Photos in original quality across web, iOS, Android and Linux. Encryption is applied before upload, while search covers faces, people, objects, places and text. Shared albums, family storage, Google Photos migration, desktop import and local backup make it suited to households consolidating libraries across devices.
Pricing starts with Starter at €2 per month for 50 GB and one user. Plus costs €6 per month for 200 GB and up to two users, while Family is €8 for 400 GB and up to four users. Extended provides 600 GB and up to five users for €10 monthly. The 1 TB plan costs €16 for up to eight users, and 2 TB costs €26 for up to 10 users. Annual billing is listed for Starter at €20 per year and Plus at €60 per year. A 30-day trial includes 10 GB without requiring payment details, but there is no permanent free plan.
The standout combination is privacy-focused backup with practical discovery and sharing tools. Face recognition and searches for objects, places and text can help organize large personal libraries, while separate encryption for family libraries supports shared storage without merging collections. Albums can accept uploads through a link or QR code, and automatic backup covers both photos and videos. Choose zeitkapsl if original-quality storage, pre-upload encryption and family sharing are priorities. It is less suitable for anyone seeking a permanent free tier or storage beyond 2 TB.
