Our verdict on Zangi
Zangi is a private messaging app for individuals, families, and colleagues who want encrypted communication on mobile devices. It supports text messaging, encrypted voice and video calls, group chats, file and media sharing, and registration with a private Zangi number rather than a personal phone number. End-to-end encryption is enabled by default, while communication history is stored locally on devices. The consumer app is available for iOS and Android.
The published plans show a Free tier with messaging, voice and video calls, group chats, and file and media sharing. A 7-day free trial is also available. Premium adds self-destructing messages, hidden chats, a wipe passcode, original-size file and media transfer, and audio group calls with up to 1,000 participants. Zangi also supports group chats with up to 1,000 members, Stealth Mode, and a low-data voice calling mode. This makes the service a fit for users who value private calling, large group communication, and local-only history over broad device coverage.
Zangi’s narrowest fit is its mobile-only design. Consumer accounts are linked to one device, there is no desktop app for the consumer messenger, and message history is not backed up on servers. Those constraints matter for people who switch between devices, need desktop access, or want server-based recovery. Users who want a focused mobile messenger with default encryption, private-number registration, and stealth messaging should consider Zangi. Users who need multi-device access, desktop messaging, or server-side backups should choose an alternative that supports those workflows.
