XP/VS Terminal Server review
A focused Windows RDP server with flexible connection tiers and broad session features.

XP/VS Terminal Server enables multiple users to access Windows desktops and applications through the standard Remote Desktop Protocol. It is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises that need multi-user access on Windows servers, with support for remote application publishing, device and drive redirection, audio, printing, multimonitor sessions and domain authentication. Thinstuff offers Lite, Standard and Professional editions with perpetual licenses, and a 14-day trial is available.
Pricing is structured by edition and connection count. Lite starts at $54 per server for 1 connection and includes 30 days of installation support and updates for versions 1.x. The 3-, 5-, 10- and unlimited-connection Lite plans cost $122, $176, $243 and $405 per server. Standard starts at $145 per server for 1 connection, while the 3- and 5-connection plans cost $348 and $428. Standard adds a 1-year support subscription, domain and server operating-system support, and enhanced application compatibility. Prices are one-time license fees and exclude VAT.
Its strongest fit is a Windows-centered remote-access environment that needs more than basic desktop sessions. TS Easy Print, true multimonitor support, remote control session mirroring and optional TSX USB redirection cover several practical session requirements, while TSX SessionBroker assigns sessions based on load. Professional includes an HTTPS-based RD Gateway with two-factor authentication. Organizations needing mobile access, file transfer or session recording should choose another product, as those capabilities are not provided here. XP/VS Terminal Server is a focused choice for Windows servers rather than a cross-platform remote desktop suite.
