XorMon review
A broad self-hosted monitor for capacity, virtualization, storage, networks and cloud environments.

XorMon is a self-hosted, open-source infrastructure monitoring platform for teams managing heterogeneous enterprise environments. It brings performance, capacity, health and configuration data together across servers, virtual machines, hypervisors, storage, SAN and LAN equipment, databases, cloud platforms, containers, backup systems and tape libraries. Its audience is infrastructure teams that want broad operational visibility while retaining control over deployment and data.
The product’s strongest fit is virtualization and capacity monitoring. It supports VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Proxmox and Nutanix, alongside AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift. Dashboards, interactive graphs, reports, data exports, topology views, change tracking and a CMDB give teams several ways to examine infrastructure relationships and trends. Alerting includes anomaly-detection alerts, while REST APIs support integrations and data export. AI-assisted analysis adds another layer for teams that want help interpreting infrastructure data.
Pricing is structured around two editions. The Free edition is GPL v3 software with no registration and no time limit, although device limits apply. The Enterprise edition lifts those device limits and adds advanced features, a commercial support contract and a next-business-day SLA; pricing depends on the number of monitored devices. XorMon suits organizations comfortable operating a Linux-oriented, self-hosted monitoring environment and needing coverage beyond basic server metrics. Teams that require unrestricted device coverage without an Enterprise contract, or that prefer a fully managed service, should consider an alternative deployment model.

- Monitors VMs, hypervisors, storage, networks, cloud and containers
- REST APIs, topology views, CMDB and AI-assisted analysis
- Where it doesn't
- Device limits apply to the Free edition
- Enterprise features require a commercial support contract
- Linux-focused deployment may not suit teams seeking broad OS coverage
